Tiffin Motorhomes
, Inc. (Tiffin
) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Allegro and Allegro Breeze motorhomes. The buss bar may be improperly secured, which can cause electrical components in the DC Distribution Panel to overheat.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the buss bar with a cable, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 18, 2022. Owners may contact Tiffin
customer service at 1-256-356-0261. Tiffin

Purpose: To correct the torque on the DCD panel and replace buss bar with 2/0 cable and update torque label.

For all Allegro Breeze units, BR9854RC01, for 1 hour
For all Allegro Open Road 31MA, 32FA, 32SA, 34PA & 36UA floorplans, AL9854RC01, for 1 hour
For all Allegro Open Road 36LA units only, AL9855RC01, for 1.5 hours
CORRECTION PROCEDURE:
1. Disconnect the batteries
a. The main feed to the house batteries needs to be disconnected.
b. Battery Locations
i. 2018 – 2022 Allegro (all floorplans except 2019 – 2022 36LA) passenger rear cargo door
ii. 2019 -2022 36LA moved to under the entry steps
iii. Breeze front passenger cargo door
2. Determine the location of the DCD panel.
– For the 32FA, 32SA, 34PA, & 36 UA, the DCD panel is located in the rear most cargo compartment on the passenger side of the coach.
– For the 36LA, the DCD panel is located in the cargo compartment behind (to the rear of the coach) the entry door on the passenger side of the coach.
– For all Breeze units, the DCD panel is located on the passenger side of the coach in the second compartment to the rear of the entry door
3. Using the 5/8” bit and the drill, remove the screws holding the DCD board in place. (The DCD board mounts in a black panel that has a flange which is held in place.
4. Remove the DCD panel, and locate the buss bar between the inverter stud and the 400A Zcase fuse.
5. Using the wrench, remove the nuts from the studs, and remove the buss bar.
6. Using the cable provided, connect one end of the cable to the stud for the inverter switch. This will require using the torque wrench set on 100 in lbs.
7. Loop the harness around behind the board, and connect the other end of the cable to the stud for the 400A Zcase fuse. This will require using the torque wrench set on 100 in lbs.
8. Install the 5129401 CVR STUD RBBR RED on the studs. This will provide protection for the added cable
9. Check all existing torques.
10. Install new sticker over old sticker.
11. Reinstall DCD Panel.
12. Reconnect the main feed to the house batteries.

c. Battery locations chassis:
i. 2018 – 2022 Allegro (all floor plans) under front cap hood.
ii. 2018 – 2022 Breeze (all floor plans) rear passenger cargo door.
2. Determine the location of the DCD panel.
– For the 32FA, 32SA, 34PA, & 36 UA, the DCD panel is located in the rear most cargo compartment on the passenger side of the coach.
– For the 36LA, the DCD panel is located in the cargo compartment behind (to the rear of the coach) the entry door on the passenger side of the coach.
– For all Breeze units, the DCD panel is located on the passenger side of the coach in the second compartment to the rear of the entry door
3. Using the 5/8” bit and the drill, remove the screws holding the DCD board in place. (The DCD board mounts in a black panel that has a flange which is held in place.
4. Remove the DCD panel, and inspect for any fuse damage or buss bar dis-coloration.
5. Check and adjust the torque as necessary.
6. Install new sticker over old sticker.
7. Reinstall DCD Panel.
8. Reconnect the main feed to the house batteries.

9/15/2021 Editor forwarded message to Compliance Department.
9/16/2021 Compliance Department opened an investigation into the concern.
9/21/2021 During the monthly Safety Committee meeting discussed the concern. Decision was made to investigate the issue to determine validity. An action plan was put in place to inspect coaches in our Service Department to see if the issue was present.
10/26/2021 After initial Service review, the issue was presented to Spyder Controls and the recommendation to inspect torque on the buss bar between the inverter switch and fuse.
10/27/2021 – 1/31/2022 Investigation continued until enough coaches were examined in our Service Department.
2/1/2022 Safety Committee voted to recall.

This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person. Tiffin Motorhomes
has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists on the following models of motorhomes: 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 Allegro Open Roads and Allegro Breezes built between February 23, 2017 and February 14, 2022 equipped with an optional 2000W inverter. Tiffin Motorhomes
has become aware of the possibility that the nuts on each side of the buss bar may not have the correct torque applied. If the torque is not correct, this could create elevated temperatures on the buss bar which could lead to melting components on the DCD panel and in some cases, the overheating of the DCD panel could increase the risk of a fire. Tiffin Motorhomes
will have the torque on the DCD panel checked and corrected as needed and will replace the existing buss bar with a 2/0 cable to handle the higher wattage of the 2000W inverter, as well as installing a new label with updated torque installed on the DCD panel. Please arrange to take your motorhome to a reputable service center OR dealer of your choice to have the correction completed. The recall repair will take approximately 1 hour and will be completed at no charge to you, the owner. If you are using a service center that is not a Tiffin Motorhomes
authorized repair facility, please make sure that they contact Tiffin Motorhomes

FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : Melting of the DC Distribution Panel and components which could lead to a fire, personal injury or property damage. Description of the Cause : Improper torque of the nuts on both sides of the buss bar combined with the installation of the optional larger 2000W inverter. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : Intermittent power to the RV. Decision was made to investigate the issue to determine validity. will provide all parts and labor at no charge to the customer. A Tiffin authorized service facility will remove the buss bar from the DC Distribution Panel and replace it with an 18″ 2/0 cable. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The recalled component is a buss bar and the remedy is to remove the buss bar and replace it with an 18″ 2/0 cable. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : On February 1, 2022, production switched from using a buss bar to a 2/0 cable that connects the inverter switch to the 400 amp fuse. Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : Owners and dealers will be notified of the recall repair and advised that the repair will be performed at no charge to the customer.
