Identify any warning which can precede or occur: An amber warning light and a low air indicator will both appear on the dash when braking systems are not functioning properly. In February 2022, DTNA was able to create the simultaneous occurrence of those two failures on a test vehicle, with no accident occurring. DTNA promptly began an investigation of the regulatory and safety impacts. At that time, DTNA determined that the system is compliant with all applicable regulations, including (but not limited to) the emergency brake provisions of FMVSS 121. DTNA considered various safety modes of operation. To the best of DTNA’s knowledge, there are zero warranty claims and zero field reports concerning this issue. DTNA is not aware of any death or injury related to this issue. On June 15, 2022, DTNA decided that, although the likelihood of the dual-simultaneous occurrences being extremely low, that out of an abundance of caution DTNA would perform a voluntary safety recall campaign for this very specific group of vehicles.
