Tiffin Motorhomes has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2022 and 2023 Allegro Breeze, 2022 and 2023 Allegro Bus, 2022 and 2023 Phaeton, and 2022 Zephyr Motorhomes, all built on Tiffin Motorhome’s PowerGlide Chassis. Tiffin Motorhomes has become aware of the possibility that on these motorhomes, the chassis 150-amp circuit breakers may overheat and trip. If this were to happen, the chassis would lose power and the driver’s dash display would go blank. If the chassis were to lose power, this would increase the risk of a crash. Tiffin Motorhomes will have the circuit breakers inspected and if they are found to be defective, they will be replaced with new updated circuit breakers. Please arrange to take your motorhome to a reputable service center OR dealer of your choice to have the correction completed. A list of Tiffin Motorhomes authorized dealers is available online at https://tiffinmotorhomes.com/service-center-locations. The recall inspection will take approximately 15 minutes and will be completed at no charge to you, the owner. Please be aware that 15 additional minutes may be needed if the circuit breakers for the chassis are found to be defective and replacement is needed. If you are using a service center that is not a Tiffin Motorhomes authorized repair facility, please make sure that they contact Tiffin Motorhomes for the required parts, instructions and time allowed for the repair. The chassis fuse can overheat while motorhome is being driven and cause engine to shut down, thereby causing the motorhome to come to an unexpected stop. Dash displays will also go blank. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : If the fuse overheats and shuts off, there is no power to the engine. This will cause the unit to stop unexpectedly and all dash displays go off. The unit can still be steered. However, if these events happen, it could lead to crash. Description of the Cause : Due to supply chain shortages, Tiffin had to find a substitute 150 amp chassis fuse (of which there are two per unit). This substitute fuse is unable to withstand the temperature that can be reached in the engine compartment. He was able to steer the coach to safety. Customer checked the engine compartment and he saw the fuse was tripped. He let the fuse cool off, and was able to reset the fuse and continue driving. Customer stated this happened repeatedly on trip. Shortly afterwards, this happened to our driver on his way to deliver coach. Chassis shopped investigated and found there was a fuse that had been substituted due to supply chain shortage. The substitute fuse is unable to withstand the temperatures that can be reached in engine compartment in certain conditions. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Work instructions will be issued detailing components that will be inspected and replaced if defective fuse is found. This will be done at no charge to the owner of the coach. There is no plan for reimbursement of past issues because if there were any issues it would have been taken care of under Tiffin warranty. How Remedy Component Differs The original fuse that was good is black with yellow arm. Both defective substitutes are black with red arms. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : As of 8/4/2022, all inventory, production units, and off line WIP units were checked. If bad fuse was found (black and red), it was replaced with good fuse (black and yellow). Warehouse inventory was discarded of bad fuses. Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : Tiffin will send letters to customers and dealers that are in possession of coached explaining the problem and asking them to take the motorhome to a dealer or service center for proper inspection and replacement at no cost to them.
