) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Vac-Tron AIR833SDT, 2013 Vac-Tron AIR835SDT, 2017-2019 Vac-Tron AIR873SDT, 2014 Vac-Tron AIR533SDT, 2014 Vac-Tron AIR535SDT, 2001-2013 Vac-Tron AIR555SDT, 2017 Vac-Tron AIR753SDT, 2010-2013 Vac-Tron AIR855SDT, and 2020 Vac-Tron AIRSDT vacuum excavator trailers. The frame may bend or become distorted, which can result in loss of stability and control while towing.
Remedy
Dealers will repair the frames, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 13, 2022. Owners may contact Vermeer
’s customer service at 1-800-829-0051 ext. 7060. Vermeer

MV Solutions, Inc. TRAILER FRAME FAILURE MAY OCCUR Frame bending or distortion can develop in the trailer main frame which can result in loss of stability while towing. DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY POSSIBLE When towing the vacuum excavator trailer on public roadways, death or serious injury may result due to the loss of control of the vacuum excavator trailer and towing vehicle. A frame failure may increase the risk of a crash. Property or equipment damage may also occur. Solution: IMMEDIATE MACHINE MODIFICATIONS REQUIRED VMV000028 has been created to provide the necessary parts and instructions to add a plate gusset to reinforce the trailer frame. The kit must be installed as soon as possible. Please be reminded that it is a violation of federal law for you to sell or lease the machines covered by this notification until this recall has been performed on these machines. The kit must be installed as soon as possible. Special tools and conditions: • None WARNING: Use the following shutdown procedure before attempting to do any of the work described in this Kit. Shutdown procedure Stopping the machine For your safety and the safety of others, follow shutdown procedure before working on the machine for any reason, including servicing, maintaining, cleaning, inspecting, unclogging or t ransporting machine, or as otherwise di rected in Operator’s manual. Step 1: Make sure end of vacuum hose is cl ear of all spoils, debris, and other materials. Step 2: Turn Water Pump Switch to OFF. Step 3: Push Throttle Switch to SLOW. Idle engine five minutes to allow vacuum pump to cool down. This helps to prevent the buildup of condensation. Step 4: Turn key switch to OFF to shut off engine. Remove the key. Step 5: Pull trigger on any high-pressure water tool to relieve line pressure. Step 6: Disassemble all water line connections, vacuum hoses, and tools. Stow properly on machine. Step 7: Drain CVS Filter Housing/ Cyclone. VMV000028 WARNING: Pressurized flu id can penetrate body tissue and result in death or serious injury. Leaks can be invisible. Keep away from any suspected leak. Relieve pressure in the hydraulic system before searching for leaks, disconnecting hoses, or performing any other work on the system. If you must pressurize the system to find a suspected leak, use an object such as a piece of wood or cardboard rather than your hands. When loosening a fitting where some residual pressure may exist, slowly loosen the fitting until oil begins to leak. Wait for leaking to stop before disconnecting the fitting. Fluid injected under the skin must be removed immediately by a surgeon familiar with this type of injury. RELEASED Page 2 of 6 Procedure 1: 1. Refer to Figure 1 for parts list. 2. Remove the conspicuity tape (A) and “WATER TANK DRAIN” (B) decal from the roadside I-beam. 3. Locate the location where the gusset (1)(p/n 135006180) will be welded onto the roadside I-beam. Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-664 Page 5 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Vermeer MV Solutions, Inc. will prepare field remedy kits which will include the necessary parts and instructions to resolve the identified issue. These field remedy kits will be made available to authorized Vermeer dealers to install. Upon installation and receipt of field remedy kit warranty claim, dealers will be reimbursed by Vermeer MV Solutions for the associated kits cost and installation labor. Registered machine owners will be notified of the potential safety risk and available field remedy kit by letter according to the product database records maintained by Vermeer Corporation on behalf of Vermeer MV Solutions. Vermeer MV Solutions will reimburse the authorized Vermeer dealer for all parts and labor for product safety recalls no matter the date of installation and regardless of whether the machine’s one-year standard limited warranty has expired. Vermeer MV Solutions will reimburse a retail customer/machine owner if the owner provides proof it paid for the identified issue’s repair prior to the issuance of the product safety recall. Vermeer Corporation will administer this campaign on behalf of Vermeer MV Solutions, Inc., its subsidiary.
