Micro Bird has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2012-2023 G5, MBII and T-Series school vehicles equipped with a Valeo air conditioning system in the rear or front cap or mounted on the ceiling. So that we can notify you of recalls affecting your vehicle(s), it is important that you inform us of any change or error in your mailing address, vehicle ownership or status. (Please use the form at the bottom of this letter) In certain vehicles, the cable powering the air conditioning control board may have a loose connection to the power stud on the board. If the connection of the power cable is loose, there may be a localized excessive heat dissipation, that may cause the control board to melt or even catch fire. This notice is to advise you that, even though a solution has been determined, it is still under study to confirm that the defect will be completely solved. Your buses can be kept in service in the meantime. You will receive a second notice when the remedy procedure becomes available. The correction consists in redirecting the power cable, if necessary, and securing the connection of the power cable to the control board. This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person. Micro Bird has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2012-2022 G5, MBII and T-Series school vehicles equipped with a Valeo air conditioning system in the rear or front cap or mounted on the ceiling. In certain vehicles, the power cable alimenting the air conditioning control board may have a loose connection to the power stud on the board. If the connection of the power cable is loose, there may be a localized excessive heat dissipation, that may cause the control board to melt or even catch fire. To complete this recall, owners will contact you to make an appointment for repair or to apply for reimbursement if they had their vehicles corrected by a third party. We request that you apply for reimbursement via the GOLs claim system with detailed invoices and list of repaired vehicles so we can update our files. Micro Bird Corporation will provide instructions and parts and reimburse labor to mitigate this recall at no charge. Since the allotted time varies depending on the position of the equipped A/C system, we invite you to consult the attached instructions to learn how much time is allotted for each corrected vehicle. Following the incidents reported in August and September 2022, it was determined that the connection between the power cable and the power stud becoming loose was probably the cause of the damages and fire incidents.
