Walk-In vans. The transmission shifter cable may contact the exhaust manifold, causing the outer coating to melt and damaging the cable.
Remedy
Shyft Group
will reroute and secure the transmission shifter cable, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 7, 2022. Owners may contact Shyft Group

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

, Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in certain 2022 Walk-in Vans.
What is the Defect?
The transmission shifter cable may rest against the engine’s exhaust manifold.
What is the Safety Risk?
The transmission shifter cable outer coating may melt and allow the allow chafing of the main cable. This could increase the risk of a fire or the inability to shift the transmission which could increase the risk of a crash.
What is the Warning?
Melting of the transmission shifter cable coating could occur without warning.
What is the Remedy?
The transmission shifter cable will be inspected for proper securement and damage. If not properly secured, the cable will be secured and if damaged, the cable will be replaced. The inspection and repair is expected take approximately 0.25 hours and will be done at no charge.

On, or before, 10/7/2022 Shyft acknowledged two customer complaints involving the condition where the shifter could not shift into gear due to melting.
On 10/7/2022 Shyft made the determination that a safety related defect could exists in the affected units. However, Shyft later learned that these vehicles are likely still in our possession and this recall was filed in an over abundance of caution.
Vehicles subject to this recall were still in our possession and were remedied prior to release. Shyft us unaware of any accidents or injuries related to this matter.
