A possible 82,315 awnings are potentially involved at a 5% failure rate. The recall is from a bad weld causing a separation at the seam attached to the travel trailer. The failure could involve a separation of the seam causing the awning to drop. Sunset was notified that upon inspection, a separation of less than 6 inches would be a repair, 6” or more would be a replacement of the awning. If repair or replacement is needed Lippert will supply the necessary items to complete the repair or replace the faulty product. Lippert will reimburse all OEM’s, dealers, mobile repair companies and/or consumers for all costs associated with inspection, repair and/or replacement of the affected awnings. Please send a warranty claim to Lippert with the inspection time, a photo of the awning affected, and a photo of the sticker on the awning. No pre-authorization is required. If you need assistance in contacting customers, please notify us and we can help assist in contacting retail customers. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Replacement material has been produced after 06.20.2022 and has been certified through validated improved processes. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The recall condition was corrected in production on 6/16/2022 by implementing and utilizing new processes. The new processes were determined after also reviewing machine parameters and identifying and removing potential areas for weld inconsistencies. Quality checks have been increased in frequency and periodic destructive tests implemented.
