The Aluminum Trailer Company (“ATC”) has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2022 ATC 20 foot Toyhauler trailers specifically with a 16 foot Lippert awning manufactured by ATC from February 2022 until March 2022. If the trailer specified has a 16 foot Lippert Awning installed, the awning fabric may become separated at the welded seam where it connects to the coach and may become separated from the vehicle due to insufficient awning welds increasing the risk of injury. Safety of all past and present ATC trailers is our top priority. Owners will be notified by mail about the recall. ATC will remedy the defect without charge by repairing or replacing the existing Lippert awning fabric. ATC will supply the required parts kit and work instructions for the repair. We estimate the time to perform the labor required to correct the defect to be up to 90 minutes with an additional 15 minutes of inspection time allotted. There is no cost to owners for this recall. ATC will reimburse any customer who incurred costs to repair the defect before our notification was sent. Please be reminded that it is a violation of Federal law for you to sell or lease the trailers covered by this notification until this recall has been performed on these trailers. Why Is A Recall Being Conducted? If the trailer specified has a 16 foot Lippert Awning installed, the awning fabric may become separated at the welded seam where it connects to the coach and may become separated from the vehicle due to insufficient awning welds increasing the risk of injury. Safety of all past and present ATC trailers is our top priority. Our records indicate that you purchased model — MODEL NUMBER model trailer; VIN XXXXX; DEALER in – PURCHASE MONTH, YEAR. If you are still the current owner of the trailer, we need your help to make arrangements to inspect this trailer. What We Will Do ATC will remedy the defect without charge to you by repairing or replacing the existing Lippert awning fabric. ATC will supply the required parts kit and work instructions for the repair. Once contact has been made with a dealer you can expect the dealer to receive the parts in two weeks’ time. ATC will reimburse any customer who incurred costs to repair the defect before our notification was sent. Description of the Cause : NR Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : The welded seam at the edge of the fabric connection will start showing separation from the coach. Notified of recall 22E055 from Lippert. After gathering facts from Lippert on POs received during the time period that fit the reall parameters. It was determined that 1 PO was in question with 12 – 16 foot awnings on the PO. ATC reviewed the trailers built during that time period and determined that 21 of the 20 foot toyhauler trailers potentiallly have the impacted awnings in question installed. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : ATC will supply replacement materials if needed as they will be supplied by Lippert under the recall. ATC will supply the parts kit needed to make the repairs. Inspection time of 15 mins will be allotted for inspection. If repairs are needed, the repair facility will be allotted up to 90 minutes for awning fabric repair/replacement. Parts will be sent out within 2 weeks of the repair request. If a customer or dealer have incurred costs for the ramp door cable assembly that would have been covered with this repair, those costs will be reimbursed. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The replacement awning fabric will have a complete welded seam as inspected by Lippert prior to shipment.
