They provided us with our purchase history of total number of affected LP tanks, which is 10 total and indicated a 10% factor of possible valves that might have been on those tanks.. Production Dates : JUN 21, 2021 – JAN 11, 2022 VIN Range 1 : Begin : 1FDRU4XG2JKB25959 End : 1FTRS4UG9LKB78983 ✔ Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : The installed LP tank may contain a RegO service valve which have some short threads in the POL outlets. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : The short threads do not allow the POL connector to fully seat. This may result in a leak at the connection. Description of the Cause : NR Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : The warning of a leak could include the smell of LP, from the leak of gas at the service valve. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Chinook will notify the owners of the 10 Bayside van motorhomes with the potentially affected LP Tanks. Chinook will have the owners make contact for instruction and help with resolving the issue. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The threads in the POL outlets of the RegO service valves on Manchester LP Tanks have short threads which may result in a leak at the connection. There is a safety bulletin issued by RegQ and Manchester Tank Co. which describes the issue in great detail. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Chinook only purchased 10 of the identified LP tanks and there are no more. The service valves may not meet specification, which may result in a leak at the connection. June 29, 2022: Manchester Tank forwarded the RegO Field Advisory to its RV customers. Sept. 23, 2022: Manchester Tank determined to submit a defect information report to NHTSA for issuing a recall. November 2, 2022: Chinook Motor Coach received the recall issued by Manchester Tank. Nov. 3, 2022 – Nov. 30, 2022: Chinook Motor Coach reviewed its records to determine the motorhomes affected by the received Manchester Tank recall. December 1, 2022: Chinook Motor Coach submitted Part 573 Defect and Noncompliance Report to NHTSA. Chinook Motor Coach contacted Manchester Tank Service Department about our next course of action. It was stated to contact dealers and retail customers, if sold, to have the valves tested on the motorhomes affected by this recall. December 2, 2022: Chinook Motor Coach mailed out letters to the dealers who have the affected motorhomes. Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-889 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Chinook Motor Coach notified and provided instructions to the owners of the affected Bayside Motorhomes with recalled LPG tanks in December 2022. This explained how to identify the defected RegO service valves and how to check for a leak. Chinook Motor Coach will work with its dealers to replace any defective RegO service valves at no cost to them. The recalled tanks were manufactured from January 2021 – March 2021. Owners may contact Chinook customer service at 1-574-584-3756.
