This could allow the awning to drop and extend beyond normal operation. Old School Trailers, LLC, has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2022 Old School travel trailers equipped with Lippert electric retractable awnings up to 18′ in length. There is a possibility of the welded seam of the fabric to coach interface separating. This only affects awnings manufactured between 1/17/22 – 6/12/22 The fabric could detach from the coach rail and remain attached to the awning frame. This could allow the awning to drop and extend beyond normal operation, increasing the risk of injury. Old School Trailers will work with Lippert who will reimburse dealer or mobile repair facilities to perform the necessary inspection fabric and, if needed, repair of the fabric portion of certain 18′ or smaller electric awnings. This inspection and repair will take approximately .30 hours inspection only, .30 hours repair only, 1.5 hours fabric replacement only. This will be done at no charge to the owner. Please call the selling dealer for repairs. Purpose The purpose of this document is to provide guidance, as well as visual aides, to dealers performing inspection on units that may have insufficient awning weld(s). The inspection point is at the awning fabric seam at the awning rail at the wall of the unit (Fig. 1 ). This only affects awnings manufactured January 17, 2022 —- June 14, 2022. The date of manufacture can be located on the variant code label (Fig. 2) located on the awning. Resources Required • Stepladder of adequate height to perform push test and inspect weld near awning rail Instructions Push Test 1. Extend the awning. 2. From underneath the awning, about 1″ to 1.5″ from the fabric edge, push up on the fabric with one finger (Fig. 3) until the awning fabric is flush with the top of the awning rail.
