Based on the information, and severity of the occurrences we were able to determine the population affecting the model years 2022-2023 Interstate 24X motorhomes. Production Dates : APR 12, 2021 – DEC 08, 2022 VIN Range 1 : Begin : 1B9GUWH29NJ307705 End : 1B9GUWH22PJ310982 Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : On certain MY 2022-2023 Airstream Interstate 24X motorhomes, The fasteners holding the overhead galley cabinet in place may fail in transit which allows the overhead galley cabinet to separate from the interior wall of the vehicle. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : If the galley cabinet separates from the wall and falls while the motorhome is in transit, there is increased risk of a crash, personal injury and/or property damage. Description of the Cause : The fasteners originally specified were not adequate to support the cabinet in place. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : There will be a noticeable gap below the overhead cabinet where it meets the wall. Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-933 Page 2 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Involved Components : Component Name 1 : Galley Cabinet Component Description : Overhead Galley Cabinet Component Part Number : 969472 Supplier Identification : Component Manufacturer Name : NR Address : NR NR Country : NR Chronology : 11/29/22 – Airstream was notified about an occurrence regarding a galley cabinet that had fallen off the wall of an Interstate 24X while in transit. 11/30/2022 – We ran a report dating back to the beginning of the production of the Interstate 24X model to present which revealed additional occurrences of galley cabinet separation. 12/8/2022 – The Safety Committee convened to discuss the cabinet separation issue. The committee determined they need further information and needed to continue the investigation. 12/13/2022 – The Safety Committee re-convened and determined a safety recall is necessary. To date, Airstream is not aware of of any accidents, or injuries caused by this safety defect. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Dealers will be instructed to install additional screw type fasteners to increase support. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : There is not a distinguishable difference in the appearance of the overhead galley cabinet. The date of manufacture on the Federal Certification Label would be the way to determine if the galley cabinet has been correctly secured to the wall. Any unit manufactured after 12/8/2022 would have a properly secured cabinet. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The condition was corrected when production implemented a process for installing additional screw fasteners during the installation process. Important Safety Recall Recall Number: NHTSA 22V933/Transport Canada 2022-217 Product Line: 2022-2023 Interstate 24X Subject: Galley Roof Locker Securement Airstream has determined that the overhead galley cabinet can come loose from the interior wall on certain 2022-2023 Interstate 24X motorhomes. The fasteners holding the overhead galley cabinet in place may fail in transit which would allow the overhead galley cabinet to separate from the interior wall of the vehicle. If the galley cabinet separates from the wall and would fall while the motorhome is in transit, there is increased risk of a crash, personal injury and/or property damage. Operation Code & Labor Rate: TCSBR8907100 – NHTSA Recall 22V-933/Transport Canada 2022-717 Galley Roof Locker Time Needed: .30 Range of Vehicles Involved 2022-2023 Airstream Interstate 24X built between April 12, 2021 – December 8, 2022 Serial Number Range: 307705 – 310982 Note: Because our VINs do not run in a contiguous series, there will be units in the VIN range which will not be affected by this Service Bulletin. Materials needed: • 381609-05 HAFELE EUROPEAN #9 1 ½” Screws – 3 Each • 381610-06 Screw Caps – 3 Each • #30 or 1/8” Drill Bit for Pilot Hole • Countersink First, identify the unit number to verify if it needs additional support. Once identified, you will need to add 3 screws to the bottom of the locker. The 3 screws will attach into a wooden support, on the inside of the locker. The screws will go into the underside of the overhead microwave cabinet. Below, is a photo showing the screws already installed. Steps: 1. Measure the location for each screw. a. From the bottom of the locker measure the first location 1.5” from the rear and then 6.5” for the next two. From the side wall, each screw will be centered at 9/16” in. 2. Using a #30 or 1/8” drill bit, drill a pilot hole for each screw. Be careful not to drill deeper than 1”. 3. Next, use a countersink bit to the bevel hole. This will relieve the pressure on the Formica. 4. Finally, install the 3 screws and use the caps to cover the screw heads. 9/16 9/16 6.5” 6.5” 6.5” 6.5” 1.5” 1.5”

Dealers will be instructed to install additional screw type fasteners to increase support. This will be done at no cost to the you. This repair will take approximately .3 hrs. You should contact your selling dealer immediately to schedule a service appointment to have the repair performed on your vehicle.
