Battery Disconnect Switch May Short
An electrical short-circuit can increase the risk of a fire.

Summary
Triple E Recreational Vehicles (Triple E) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Unity U24IB and 2021-2023 Unity U24TB motorhomes. The battery disconnect switch terminal posts may contact the metal grounded fridge frame, causing a short and blowing a 100 AMP fuse.
Remedy
Dealers will install two rubber terminal post protective covers, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 17, 2023. Owners may contact Triple E customer service at 1-877-992-9906. Triple E’s number for this recall is CA#10253-1.

QAAR 10253 Battery Disconnect Terminal Post Protection
Tools Required
#2 Robertson (Square) Screw Driver

Small Flat Head Screw Driver
Turn OFF the propane supply.
Disconnect the shore power plug on the exterior of the coach and turn off the battery disconnect switch.
Disconnect the main negative cable on the house batteries.
Caution:
Failure to do so may result in damage to the fridge as it is removed.
Remove the screw from the lower fridge vent with a #2 Robertson driver.
Push the clips up.
With both clips up, remove the vent by pulling on the left side of the vent and then sliding it out. Set vent aside.
Be aware that there a re some wires at the back of the fridge that are bundled together and will need to be released before moving the fridge.
Open the refrigerator & freezer doors and remove the screw covers one side at a time.
Set covers aside
Remove all Six (6) mounting screws with a #1 Robertson screw driver.
Close the refrigerator doors and pull the fridge slowly into the coach 50mm (2″) to allow access to the battery disconnect.
Caution: do not move the fridge too much as it may dislodge the propane connection in the back.
Slip the rubber terminal post protective covers over the battery disconnect terminal posts.
Gently push the Fridge back into the cabinet until the main body is flush with the cabinet face.
Visually check to make sure that there is no interference with the gasket and it is contacting the backside of the fridge.
Reinstall the 6 mounting screws and caps.
Reinstall the negative cable on to the coach batteries and resecure the wiring on the back of the fridge.
Reinstall vent by lining up the tabs on the right side of the frame with the slots in the grill and swivel the left side in.
Push both clips down and reinstall the top clip screw of the vent. Start screw by hand into the metal bracket on the vent frame. Be careful not to strip the screw or overtighten and crack the plastic.
Verify fridge vent cover is secure by grasping the vent louvers and gently pulling on them to check the right side tabs engaged correctly.
Caution: failure to perform this may result in the vent dislodging during driving.
Chronology :
DECEMBER 21/2022 – A MOTORHOME IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS SHORTED THE CIRCUIT AND BLEW A 100 AMP FUSE. THE CAUSE WAS THE BATTERY DISCONNECT TERMINAL POST HAD MADE CONTACT WITH THE METAL FRIDGE FRAME CAUSING THE SHORT CIRCUIT. THE FRIDGE HAD BEEN INSTALLED IN THE FRIDGE CABINET CROOKED CAUSING LESS SPACE FOR THE TERMINAL POSTS. IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE FRIDGE CABINET DRAWING HAD NOT BEEN UPDATED TO REFLECT A THICKER MATERIAL BEING USED IN THE PRODUCTION OF THE CABINET. THUS CAUSING LESS SPACE BETWEEN THE TERMINAL POSTS & THE FRIDGE FRAME.

Triple E Recreational Vehicles has decided that a defect exists in certain 2021, 2022 & 2023 Unity U24IB & Unity U24TB motorhomes manufactured between June 17, 2020 and December 1, 2022 Description of Defect: The battery disconnect switch, located at the entry door, the terminal posts in the fridge cabinet at the entry door, may contact the grounded metal fridge frame resulting in a short circuit. If the battery disconnect switch terminal posts would contact the metal fridge frame it would cause a short in the circuit and blow a fuse and possibly causing an increased risk of fire and injury. To Have This Modification Performed: We request your assistance to have this Safety issue corrected. Please have the rubber terminal post protective covers installed, included in this mailing. When the covers have been installed, complete the enclosed return form and email to [email protected].
If you choose to have your selling dealer or a RV service center perform the recall it will be performed at no charge to you. The time needed to perform the recall is
approximately 30 minutes. If you choose to have this Recall performed by a service center other than your dealer, prior authorization is required.

Description of Remedy Program : DEALERS WITH INVENTORY WILL BE SENT AN SOP (STANDARD
OPERATING PROCEDURE) AND TWO RUBBER TERMINAL POST PROTECTIVE COVERS PER MOTORHOME TO BE INSTALLED. DEALERS WILL SUBMIT A WARRANTY APPLICATION FOR REIMBURSEMENT. RETAIL OWNERS WILL BE SENT AN SOP (STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE) AND TWO RUBBER TERMINAL POST PROTECTIVE COVERS. THE RETAIL OWNER WILL BE REIMBURSED OR THE SERVICE CENTER WILL BE PAID DIRECTLY BY TRIPLE E RV. A RETAIL OWNER OR SERVICING CENTER WILL BE REIMBURSED FOR COSTS INCURRED FOR REPAIR PRIOR TO THE RECALL NOTIFICATION. THE DESIGN TEAM WILL UPDATE THE CABINET DRAWING FOR THE UNITY U24TB TO MOVE THE BATTERY DISCONNECT TO THE FRIDGE EXHAUST/VENT CHAMBER AS IN ALL OTHER MODELS MANUFACTURED. THE UNITY U24IB IS NO LONGER BEING MANUFACTURED. Recall Schedule :
