Jayco
, Inc. (Jayco
) is recalling certain 2023 Redhawk SE motorhomes. The dinette rear and forward-facing seat belts have the incorrect brackets installed, which can cause the brackets to loosen. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”
Remedy
Dealers will replace the seat belt brackets, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 14, 2023. Owners may contact Jayco
customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco

INSTRUCTIONS TO REPLACE DINETTE SEATBELT BRACKETS
Chronology :
On January 17, 2023 production emailed Jayco
compliance that certain Jayco
Redhawk SE units were built with the incorrect rear and forward facing seat belt brackets resulting in bracket bolts missing the floor framing.
One January 17, 2023 the Warranty Incident Review Committee (WIRC) discussed the incident and determined it should be elevated to CPAC.
On January 18, 2023 the Corrective and Preventive Action Committee (CPAC) met to discuss this incident and elevated it to the Safety Steering Committee.
On February 13, 2023 the Safety Steering Committee voted in favor of proceeding with a noncompliance recall for failing to comply with FMVSS number 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages”

The dinette rear and forward-facing seat belts have the incorrect brackets installed, which can cause the brackets to loosen. During a crash, loose seat belt brackets may not restrain the passenger as intended, increasing the risk of injury.
Jayco
Inc. Dealers will replace the rear and forward-facing dinette seat belt brackets. The remedy will be free of charge and will take approximately 1 hour to complete.
Please contact a Jayco
certified repair facility and schedule an appointment for this remedy.
Federal regulations require that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten days. If you no longer own this vehicle, please contact Jayco

2. With a 9/16” Socket, locate and remove the two bolts – one on the front side and one on the rear – holding the left side generator cradle. (Figure 2)
a. NOTE: A crowbar may be needed to push the cradle to the side to gain full access to the mounting bolts.
3. Lower the generator to gain access. (Figure 3)
4. Remove the plywood to gain access to the seatbelt frame installed – Repeat for both sides. (Figure 4)
5. With a 5/8” socket and wrench, remove the seatbelts from the top of the seatbelt frame – Repeat for both sides. (Figure 4)
a. NOTE: The seatbelts and hardware need installed on the new seatbelt frames.
6. With a 5/8” socket and wrench, remove the dinette seatbelt frames – Repeat for both sides.
a. NOTE: Discard seatbelt frames but the mounting hardware will be re-used.

7. Place the new frame into the rearward dinette seat and locate. (Figure 5)
a. Tight against the rear of the seat.
b. 10.5 inches spacing between the sidewall and edge of frame.
8. Using a drill and 7/16 inch drill bit, drill (4) mounting holes
9. From underside of unit, have someone push the bolts through the drilled holes and have someone else install the washer, lock washer and nut. With 5/8 socket, tighten and torque all four to 35 LBF-FT. (Figure 6)
10. Place the new frame into the forward dinette seat and locate.
a. Tight against the rear of the seat.
b. 10.5 inches spacing between the sidewall and edge of frame.
11. Using a drill and 7/16 inch drill bit, drill (4) mounting holes closes to the dinette seat back. (Figure 7)
a. NOTE: The mounting holes at the end (closest to the dinette seat back) MUST be used to avoid drilling into the fresh water tank.

12. From underside of unit, have someone push the bolts through the drilled holes and have someone else install the washer, lock washer and nut. With 5/8 socket, tighten and torque all four to 35 LBF-FT. (Figure 8)
13. Where holes are not re-used from the previous dinette seatbelt frame, add bolt, washer, lock washer and nut to fill the hole.
14. Re-install seatbelts to the top of both seat frames. Tighten and torque all four to 35 LBF-FT. Repeat for both sides. (Figure 8)
15. Re-install the plywood to the dinette seat frame – Repeat for
both sides. (Figure 9)
16. Using the floor jack, raise the generator back into position.
17. Using the hardware previously removed; re-install the generator mounting bolts – one on the front side and one on the rear – holding the left side generator cradle.
a. NOTE: Use a crowbar (If need be) to push the cradle to the side to gain full access for the mounting bolts.

dealer at no charge to current owners. Repairs made prior to the recall will be reimbursed in accordance with our Recall Reimbursement Plan on file with NHTSA. There are no warranty claims or complaints associated with this recall. Jayco
Inc. will be reporting the quarterly completion rates to NHTSA. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Remedied units will have the correct rear and forward facing dinette seat belt brackets installed.
As of January 17th 2023, Jayco
production has installed the correct rear and forward facing dinette seat belt brackets and also repaired all units onsite that were built with the incorrect rear and forward facing dinette seat belt brackets.
