Airstream

) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Basecamp, Bambi, Atlas, and Interstate travel trailers, equipped with certain SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktops. The internal aluminum burner tubes that connect to the gas valves may fracture and cause a gas leak.
Remedy
Dealers will install a regulator support bracket, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 29, 2023. Owners may contact Airstream

.
They stated they would be sending detailed information in a formal communication on Monday January 30.
1/30/23 – We received the recall notification from Suburban. At this time Suburban does not have a remedy in place.
2/6/23 – Suburban to be on site to correct units in production.
2/22/23 – Suburban has stated they should have the final testing of the remedy by 2/28/23.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Open glass lid.
2. Remove (4) black glass bumpers from each corner of the appliance.
3. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, loosen the screws under each bumper. This will retract the clamping mechanism that attaches the cooktop to the countertop.

4. Close glass lid.
5. Lift cooktop free of countertop and place bottom side up on soft working surface. If gas supply piping does not allow removal of cooktop from countertop without disconnecting appliance, shut off the gas supply at the source and disconnect the flare fitting at the appliance. The appliance can now be removed.
6. Remove heat shield from bottom of appliance, setting heat shield, screws, and washers aside.
7. Visually inspect the gas tubes connecting the gas valve to the burner orifice holder for any cracks, splits, etc. Ensure no gas lines are loose by gently pulling the tubing along its axis away from each brass nut. Use only two fingers. If any gas lines are loose, stop the recall kit process and request a replacement unit by contacting Suburban Tech Support at 574-247-9235, option 5.
8. Clean bottom of main top near regulator with a 50/50 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water.
9. Peel red liner from tape on bottom of bracket assembly (064351).

10. Place bracket assembly over regulator and align screw holes. (Ensure regulator mounting surface is parallel to bottom of main top.)
11. Attach bracket to regulator with two screws (122292).
12. Apply force of 15 lbs. minimum to regulator bracket to firmly adhere VHB tape. (Minimum application temperature of 50ยฐF. If necessary, heat tape and application surfaces prior to adhesion.)
13. Reinstall heat shield using retained screws and washers.
14. Cover โ3031ASTโ with sticker (194460) or cover โ3032ASTโ with sticker (194462) on large heat shield sticker. Clean oily residue as required for proper label adhesion.
15. Turn unit over and open glass lid.
16. Remove both burner control knobs.
17. Using needle nose pliers, remove top nut securing the left valve to the main top. Your cooktop may have one or two nuts securing each gas valve.

18. Tighten bottom nut if your cooktop had two nuts on each gas valve.
19. Snip tip of Loctite 243 (410350) and apply one drop of threadlocker to approximately 2nd valve thread if each valve has two nuts. Apply one drop of threadlocker to approximately the 4th thread if each valve has only one nut.
20. Install top nut and torque to 20 in-lb.
21. Reinstall control knob.
22. Repeat steps 16 through 20 for the right control.

23. Reinstallation of unit is reverse of removal. (Steps 1-5) If the gas supply was disconnected, reconnect the gas supply piping and turn on the gas supply. Check for any leaks using an appropriate leak check procedure. See the Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Manual that came with the appliance for more information.
24. This completes the recall remedy steps.

has decided that a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety exists in Model Year 2021-2023 Atlas & Interstate touring coaches as well as Bambi & Basecamp travel trailers. As a result, Airstream
is conducting a safety recall.
Airstream
, Inc. (Airstream
) is recalling 2021-2023 Atlas & Interstate touring coaches as well as Bambi & Basecamp travel trailers. Per Suburban Recall 22E-035, “The internal aluminum burner tubes connecting the gas valves to the cook top burners can fracture from excessive vibration or shock experienced through travel in a RV.” If a gas leak occurs, this could result in a fire, personal injury and/or property damage.
Airstream
dealers will be instructed to perform an inspection of the cooktops. Depending on the inspection results, if there are no leaks within the cooktop, the dealer will follow Suburbanโs remedy instructions and install the support bracket. If leaks are detected, the cooktop will need to be replaced with the corrected Suburban 2 burner cooktop (Part Number – 3036AST). At this point, the dealer will contact Suburban to order the replacement cooktop. This will be done at no cost to the customer. This repair will take approximately .25 hours.
You should contact your selling dealer immediately to schedule a service appointment to have the repair performed on your vehicle. If you have any questions concerning this recall or if you need any assistance, please contact the Airstream

It has come to our attention that in certain model year 2021-2023 Atlas & Interstate (19โ & 24′) touring coaches, as well as in certain model year 2021-2023 Bambi & Basecamp travel trailers, it is necessary to participate in the following Suburban recall: Per Suburban Recall 22E035, “The internal aluminum burner tubes connecting the gas valves to the cook top burners can fracture from excessive vibration or shock experienced through travel in a RV.” If a gas leak occurs, this could result in a fire, personal injury and/or property damage.

Operation Code & Flat Rates:
The time allowed for this repair is as follows:
TCSBR8911100 (touring coach)/TTSBR8911100 (travel trailer) – Inspection/Install LP regulator bracket .25 hrs.
WARRANTY REIMBURSEMENT:
A notice of this recall has been sent to affected retail owners. A copy of the Ownerโs letter is included for your review. They may request that you complete the repair. If so, please follow the warranty reimbursement procedure. If the unit and/or units are in your inventory, or if you are requested to perform the repair for the retail customer, please complete the advised repair and send in a warranty claim referencing this recall number for reimbursement. The time allowed for repair is .50 hrs.
SERVICE ACTION:
An inspection of the cooktops will need to occur. Depending on the inspection results, if there are no leaks within the cooktop, follow Suburbanโs remedy instructions and install the support bracket. If leaks are detected, the cooktop will need to be replaced with the corrected Suburban 2 burner cooktop (Part Number – 3036AST). At this point, contact Suburban to order the replacement cooktop.

Per Suburban’s recall 22E-035, The replacement/exchange unit will have a different part number outside of the recall population that will have a bracket installed to prevent vibration damage to the gas line. The units will be visually the same to the end user.
