Steer axle assembly separation can result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Terex Advance Mixer, Inc. (Terex) is recalling certain 2022 Front Discharge Mixer Commander vehicles. The front-drive steer axle fasteners may not have been tightened sufficiently and could come loose, resulting in a complete separation of the axle assembly joints.
Remedy
Meritor
will inspect and repair the axle assembly joints, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 18, 2023. Owners may contact Terex customer service at 1-800-678-5961.

ISSUE:
Terex Advance has decided, based on information provided by Meritor
, that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2022 Front Discharge Mixer Commander vehicles equipped with front axles built between January 18, 2022, and December 11, 2022. The front-drive steer axle fasteners may have improperly torqued joints.
An improperly torqued joint can loosen over time which may cause the steering axle assembly to separate, resulting in a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.

Mar. 2, 2023 – Terex Advance Mixer and Meritor
had a conference call where Meritor
shared that 20 axles that where shipped to Terex Advance Mixer had a defect.
Mar. 7,2023 – After internal discussions and analysis of the Meritor
information, Terex Advance Mixer deemed this condition to be safety related. Therefore, a 573 defect report was initiated.

, that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2022 Front Discharge Mixer Commander vehicles equipped with front axles built between January 18, 2022, and December 11, 2022. The front-drive steer axle fasteners may have improperly torqued joints.
An improperly torqued joint can loosen over time which may cause the steering axle assembly to separate, resulting in a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.

What the Owner Must Do:
You are receiving this Notice because you have a truck that has been identified as falling within the suspect series. As the owner, you must immediately inspect the equipment and correct if required:

• If the fasteners are found improperly torqued or loose, immediately conduct the repairs outlined or contact Meritor

2. If suspect condition is found, immediately remove from service and repair.
3. If suspect condition is not found or once the equipment has been repaired, continue to follow inspection and maintenance instructions as specified in the manuals.
