Summary
Eveland’s Inc. (Eveland’s) is recalling certain 2022 Scamp Trailer 13ft travel trailers, equipped with certain 2-burner Cooktops. The burner control valves may become damaged, causing a gas leak.
Remedy
Eveland’s will work with Dometic to replace the cooktops, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 11, 2023. Owners may contact Eveland’s customer service at 1-218-947-4932.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL
Eveland’s Inc has decided that a defect which relates to a motor vehicle safety exists on certain 2022 Era trailers. These trailers were manufactured November 2, 2021 through May 31, 2022.
The burner control valve, mated directly to the control knob via the valve stem, may leak gas. This gas will leak directly into the recessed portion of the cooktop, where the knobs and ignitor are located, and may be ignited by the active burner(s). The ignition will result in a small pilot flame directly at the control knob which could result in a fire or injury.
WHAT WE WILL DO
Eveland’s Inc is working with Dometic to provide you a new replacement range if your cooktop is defective. Should you need a new cooktop, the replacement and install will be at no charge to you. This repair will take approximately 1.5 hours.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
To determine if your cooktop is defective, find the CE99-ZF model number and serial number by locating the nameplate on the unit, underneath the cooktop. To do this the silverware drawer will need to be removed. See the two photos below. If your label looks like the photo on the left you will need to check model and serial label (model and S/N are in the area of the red boxes shown on the photo).
If the S/N falls within the range of numbers listed below you will need to notify Eveland’s Inc Customer Service. You will need to schedule an appointment to have the cooktop removed and replaced with a new cooktop. Free of charge
