NHTSA followed up after the call and emailed draft compliance reports for the Coral XP related to their FY2021 testing and FY2022 testing. Both draft reports indicated noncompliance’s related to the design and labeling of the Coral XP’s inner carrier, i.e., child restraint system. Coral XP’s child restraint system cannot be installed into a vehicle without the use of the outer carrier, which is a supplemental device. As such all Coral XP models fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Safety Standard 213, “Child Restraint Systems.” Production Dates : MAY 01, 2020 – FEB 28, 2023 Description of Noncompliance : Description of the Noncompliance : During NHTSA’s FY2021 and FY2022 compliance testing on IC313 Maxi-Coral XP Infant Car Seat, several noncompliance’s related to the design and labeling of the Coral XP’s inner carrier were found, including: S5.3.2 Installation, S5.5.1/S5.5.2 Labeling, S5.6.1 Printed Instructions, and S6.1.2 Dynamic Procedure. Coral XP’s child restraint system, i.e., the inner carrier cannot be installed into a vehicle without the use of a supplemental device, i.e., the outer carrier.
