This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This notice is also sent in accordance with the requirements of the United States’ National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Forest River has decided that a defect, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2019 – 2023 Continental Cargo – 2019 – 2022 Cargo Mate 2020 – Cross Bow Cargo trailers. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.
WHAT IS THE DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE?
The remote control for the winch could get wet and result in water ingress and corrosion inside the remote control. This condition could lead to inadvertent activation and unexpected movement of the winch. It was determined that this condition only affects remote controls with wireless capability that are not waterproof.
EVALUATION OF THE RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL.
If the winch operates unexpectedly, it would increase the risk of injury.
WHAT IS WARN INDUSTRIES GOING TO DO?
Forest River is notifying dealerships and Owners of the recall. Warn Industries, Inc. will provide, at no cost to you, the remedy as outlined in included Warn Recall Notification. As per Recall 22E101, Warn Industries will replace your existing VR EVO remote with a “corded only” remote if any internal corrosion is observed when removing the battery pack.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Forest River has included a replacement remote from Warn Industries in this package. Please discard the current wireless remote and replace it with the corded remote in the package.
WHAT IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR REPAIRS TO YOUR VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR CONDITION?
If you have already paid for a repair that is within the scope of this defect under recall, you still need to have this recall inspected and/or performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were utilized.
Additionally, you may be eligible for a refund of previously paid repairs. Refunds will only be provided for within the scope of this defect under recall.

Dear Valued Customers,
Warn Industries has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in the handheld remote-
control device that was sold with WARN VR EVO winches. A small number of remotes which have been exposed to or submerged in water have exhibited failures that can result in unintended winch operation. Only the remote is subject to this recall notice, the winch is not affected.
This notice only applies to product sold and used in the USA.
Products affected: Remotes shipped with all EVO winch models manufactured between June 3, 2019 to
November 29, 2022.

What should you do?
This defect relates only to the handheld remote-control device sold with the winches listed above.
We previously sent a “Stop Ship” notice to our direct distributors which you may have received a copy of. At this time, we ask that you please take the following actions regarding the items listed above.

We want to take care of you. Please contact us on this website www.warn.com/remote-recall-info- customers which we have set up for use by Dealers and Resellers. Let us know how many winches you have in stock, and we will contact you with details about the rework.
Hold your inventory pending further information from Warn Industries regarding when new remotes will be available and how we will arrange to rework your unsold inventory with new remotes and related consumer information.

What are we doing?
Warn Industries is taking the following steps regarding the affected products:

All unsold products will need to be reworked by replacing the existing remote with a new water-
resistant “corded-only” remote, applying a label to the product informing the consumer that the wireless function is not included, and inserting instructions notifying the consumer how they can obtain a $100 coupon valid toward the purchase of a new wireless remote product when available on www.warn.com.
Affected items are removed from Warn’s UMP pricing policy.
Consumer inquiries will be addressed directly by Warn according to the process outlined in the Consumer Safety Recall Notice. We encourage you to direct consumers and winch owners to go to www.warn.com/vr-evo-remote-info where they can also find a copy of the attached Consumer Safety Recall Notice for instructions regarding their current remote, replacement product, and a redeemable coupon directly from Warn.

Description of the Defect : According to the Part 573 provided to Forest River from NHTSA: “After investigating field reports of inadvertent activation, Warn determined that getting the remote control wet could result in water ingress and corrosion inside the remote control. This condition could lead to inadvertent activation. It was determined that this condition only affects remote controls with wireless capability that are not waterproof.”

Description of the Safety Risk : According to the Part 573 provided to Forest River from NHTSA: “Personal
injury if winch operates unexpectedly. No injuries have been reported associated with any product failures. No significant property damage other than the winch system, winch mounting brackets and front bumpers have been reported as a result of corrosion related issues.”

On March 13, 2023, Forest River’s Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) was notified by NHTSA of Warn Industries recall 22E101. According to NHTSA, Forest River was named as a company that may have purchased suspected affected winches. OCC opened a research item the same day. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Owners and Dealers that have the affected Warn Winches should contact
Warn Industries pursuant to the recall statements in 22E101 to have their winch remote controls remedied. A-1 As per Recall 22E101, Warn Industries will replace your existing VR EVO remote with a “corded only” remote if any internal corrosion is observed when removing the battery pack.

Description of Recall Schedule : Forest River has the utmost urgency in our recalls. Forest River will send
suspected VIN numbers to our third-party vendor that is licensed to pull data on the current owner of the vehicles (as needed) once a formal NHTSA I.D. is provided. Forest River intends on pushing the mailing out as soon as NHTSA provides any correction(s) and an Acknowledgement Letter.
