This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
The Shyft Group, Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model year 2022, 2023, and 2024, K1, K2, K3, and K4 model Spartan RV chassis equipped with a vehicle control module (ICM) supplied by Ametek.
What is the problem?
The vehicle control module is subject to a software error.
What is the risk to motor vehicle safety?
The software error could result in inadvertent loss of motive power and other key safety functions such as loss of head lamps or windshield wipers. This could occur without warning and increase the risk of a crash.
What should the final stage manufacturer do?
On the attached document, you will find a list of Spartan RV chassis that have been sold to you. If you agree the identified chassis, contains a safety defect, you are reminded of your responsibility to notify the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in accordance with 49 C.F.R. 573. It is a violation of federal regulation to sell a vehicle subject to a safety recall without the recall first being remedied.
What will Shyft do?
The vehicle control module will be reprogrammed with corrected software. This will be done at no charge.
We will notify owners of the affected vehicles and direct them to the nearest service center to have the remedy applied.

Spartan RV Chassis, a brand of Shyft Group, Inc. and the Jayco motorized division have decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2022-2024 Entegra Coach Anthem, Aspire, Cornerstone, Embark, Reatta, Reatta XL Class A motorhomes. The affected vehicles are built on certain model year 2022, 2023, and 2024; K1, K2, K3, and K4 model Spartan RV chassis equipped with a vehicle control module (ICM) supplied by Ametek.
The vehicle control module is subject to a software error. The software error could result in inadvertent loss of motive power and other key safety functions such as loss of headlamps or windshield wipers. This could increase the risk of a crash and could occur without warning.
The vehicle control module will be reprogrammed with corrected software and will be done at no
charge to you. Reprogramming of the control module is not expected to take more than a half
hour although the service provider may need your vehicle for longer depending on their scheduling times.
Call Spartan RV Chassis at 855.589.9836 option 0 to locate a qualified service center near you for the inspection. Steps will be taken to ensure the work is performed at the nearest service center.
A vehicle lessor receiving this notice must notify the lessee by first class mail within ten (10) days from receipt of this owner notification letter.
If you had this repair completed prior to receipt of this recall notice, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. For more information, contact Spartan RV Chassis at 800-543-4277.
If the authorized service center has failed or is unable to remedy the defect without charge and within a reasonable time, contact Spartan RV Chassis at 1-800-543-4277 or Entegra Coach Customer Service at 800-283-8267. You may also submit a complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE, Washington, D.C. 20590 or call the Auto Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.safercar.gov if you feel the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy the defect without charge.

Federal law requires that all affected units in your inventory be repaired prior to delivery to a retail owner. If you sold an affected unit recently, please contact the owner immediately to advise the owner of the recall. In addition, please register the unit through Jayco Partners.
A vehicle lessor receiving this notice must notify the lessee by first class mail within ten (10) days from receipt of this owner notification letter.
Please confirm the unit serial number requires the Recall Remedy using Unit Management in Jayco Partners. The instructions for the Recall Remedy are available under the Case Recall number in attachments.

Jayco is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.
February 27, 2023 Jayco’s Warranty Incident Review Committee (WIRC) reviewed the incident and elevated it to CPAC. On March 1, 2023 The Corrective Preventive Action Committee (CPAC) decided to elevate the incident to the Safety Steering Committee (SSC). On March 23, 2023 SSC voted to proceed with a pass through chassis recall. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a
Spartan Service Center.
The vehicle control module will be reprogrammed at no charge. Chassis subject to this recall are within their warranty period. Any repairs would have been covered through the normal warranty process. There will be no charge for this service.
Jayco’s general reimbursement plan for the cost of remedies paid for by vehicle owners prior to notification of a safety recall is on file with NHTSA. Spartan will be reporting the quarterly completion rates to NHTSA. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The vehicle control module software version subject to this recall is v1.2. Remedied vehicle control modules will be at software v1.3.
