Jayco matched those VIN numbers to our production records. Production Dates : DEC 20, 2022 – MAR 31, 2023 VIN Range 1 : Begin : 1F65F5DN2N0A18758 End : 1F66F5DNXN0A13005 ✔ Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : Ford Motor Company reported to Jayco Inc. that they are recalling certain 2022 F-53 strip chassis. Affected vehicles have rear caliper attachment bolts that may not be fastened to the specified torque level. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : The caliper bolts may loosen over time. If one or more bolts disengage, the caliper may damage the wheel resulting in a loss of tire pressure or the caliper may damage the brake lines causing brake fluid loss in one circuit, which may result in reduced brake system performance. Either condition increases the risk of a crash. Description of the Cause : During the manufacturing process, the socket used to secure the caliper attachment bolts became worn over time, reducing the effectiveness of the tool to apply torque to the caliper bolt. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : The driver may notice a noise / bang / clunk from the rear axle if any of the caliper bolts start working loose. Ford is not aware of any warranty or field reports related to this condition. Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition. March 31, 2023 Jayco Inc. received an official notice regarding Ford Safety Recall Notice 23S11/ NHTSA Recall 23V164. April 3, 2023 Jayco’s Warranty Incident Review Committee (WIRC) reviewed the incident and elevated it to the Corrective Preventive Action Committee (CPAC). On April 5, 2023 CPAC decided to elevate the incident to the Safety Steering Committee (SSC). On April 27, 2023 SSC voted to proceed with a pass through chassis recall. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have their rear caliper bolt torque inspected. If the torque is below specification the bolts will be re-torqued to specification. For units exhibiting bolt head rounding, the bolts will be replaced. There will be no charge for this service. Ford provided the general reimbursement plan for the cost of remedies paid for by vehicle owners prior to notification of a safety recall in May 2021. The ending date for reimbursement eligibility is estimated to be April 14, 2023. Ford Motor Company will be reporting the quarterly completion rates to NHTSA.
