VR EVO 8, VR EVO 8-S, VR EVO 10-S, VR EVO 12, VR EVO 12-S sold and installed into by Fox into certain vehicle models by General Motors, Jeep, and Ford contain WARN VR EVO winches with wireless/corded remote for which Warn Industries has declared a safety recall (22E-101). The vehicle recall population has been determined based on comparison of part numbers from Warn Industries with Fox Factory’s vehicle installation and VIN information. Production Dates : SEP 08, 2020 – JAN 04, 2023 VIN Range 1 : Begin : NR End : NR Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : As reported by Warn Industries, exposure of the handheld remote control to moisture could result in water ingress and corrosion. Such water or corrosion in the remote’s circuit board can result in unintended activation of the winch or cause the winch to not turn off when the switch button is released. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : Inadvertent activation of the winch while a vehicle is in motion could increase the risk of a crash Description of the Cause : WARN remotes with wireless capability can experience accelerated corrosion and water ingress because they are not waterproof. Address : 12900 SE Capps Road Clackamas Oregon 97015 Country : United States Chronology : Fox Factory received a notification from NHTSA on March 29, 2023, of the recent Warn Industries recall No. 22E101. The purpose of the notification was to make Fox Factory aware of the recall, as Warn Industries identified Fox Factory as a purchaser of the affect Warn components. Upon receiving this notification, Fox Factory pulled all build records to determine its population of affected vehicles. As a result of that investigation, on April 5th, 2023, Fox determined that certain GM, Jeep, and Ford Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-343 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 vehicles were upfitted by Fox Factory with the affected Warn Industries winches. As of May 3rd, 2023, Fox Factory was aware of no warranty claims, no field or service reports, and no customer complaints related to this issue. On May 5th, 2023, Fox Factory decided to declare a voluntary safety recall to remedy this issue in the identified population of upfitted vehicles. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Owners and Dealers that have the affected Warn Winches should contact Warn Industries pursuant to the recall statements in 22E101 to have their winch remote controls remedied. A-1 As per Recall 22E101, Warn Industries will replace your existing VR EVO remote with a “corded only” remote if any internal corrosion is observed when removing the battery pack.
