Production Dates : JUN 06, 2023 – JUL 17, 2023 VIN Range 1 : Begin : 3C6LRVCG0PE573031 End : 3C6LRVCGXPE581041 ✔ Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : The positive battery cable may be connected to the negative terminal on the battery and the negative cable may be connected to the positive terminal on the battery causing the circuit protection on the positive cable to be ineffective. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : In the event of short circuit on the negative cable, without circuit protection, it could increase the risk of a fire. Description of the Cause : NR Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : A short circuit may occur without warning. Involved Components : Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-542 Page 2 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Component Name 1 : Harness – MDD Charger Component Description : Harness Component Part Number : 16518736 Supplier Identification : Component Manufacturer Name : NR Address : NR NR Country : NR Chronology : On July 21, 2023, the issue of incorrect wiring for the MDD charger was raised to Product Safety and Compliance and an investigation ensued. The potential safety impacts were not clear at the time of the initial notice. On 7/25, the team had assessed the risk and identified the affected population of vehicles subject to this matter. On 7/27 Shyft determined that a safety defect could exist in the affected vehicles. On 8/1 Shyft confirmed the date of upfits for those vehicles. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : The purchaser of the vehicles will be notified with direction to contact Shyft to be directed to the nearest service provider to have the cable installation corrected. The affected vehicles would still be in their respective warranty period. Any complaints or claims would have been addressed through the course of normal warranty. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The remedied vehicles will have the wires installed correctly. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : On 7/17, each vehicle has been tested with a test lamp to ensure the cables were installed correctly.
