Summary

Streamline Industries Incorporated (Streamline) is recalling certain LA Chopper Brake HoseeBay logo Kits. Please see the attached document for a complete list of part numbers. The hydraulic brake hoses may fail. As such, these brake hoses fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 106, “Brake Hoses.”

 

Remedy

Streamline will replace the brake hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be September 20, 2023. Owners may contact Streamline customer service at 1-800-310-5519.

Chronology :

December 2021: NHTSA requested information from Streamline regarding results from the Agency’s compliance testing. Streamline sent out current product to third-party testing facility (Element Materials Technology) for conformance testing.

Jan. – Mar 2022: Streamline responded to NHTSA information request and internally investigated records related to brake hoses manufactured for on-road use. Streamline reviewed and shared compliance testing results from Element for samples submitted in June 2020, December 2021, and February 2022.

Mar. 30, 2022: Streamline submitted a defect information report for brake hoseeBay logo assemblies intended for on-road manufactured between 1 May 2018 and 1 May 2020 because the assemblies may not have been marked in accordance with FMVSS 106 S5.2.2 (Recall No. 22E028).

Apr. 2022 – Aug 2023: Streamline continued investigating compliance testing for brake hoseeBay logo assemblies by acquiring brake assemblies manufactured from its distributor customer in order to test assemblies manufactured prior to June 2020. During its investigation Streamline determined that a population of brake hoseeBay logo assemblies had been equipped with fittings that used an anti-corrosion coating that may have impacted compliance.

17 Aug 2023: Streamline discussed its investigation of subpopulation with coating and discussed updating Recall No. 22E028 to include potential performance noncompliance in the recall related to labeling noncompliance. The Agency requested that Streamline submit a separate defect information report related to the performance issues. Based on NHTSA’s request, Streamline agreed to submit a separate report for potential noncompliance with FMVSS 106 S5.3.
