FMVSS 1 : 120 – Wheels and rims- other than passenger cars FMVSS 2 : 567 – Certification Description of the Safety Risk : An operator may overload the vehicle, increasing the risk for loss of control which may lead to a crash. Description of the Cause : The manufacturing plant found a piece of steel had wedged against the scale pad, not allowing the scale pad to be depressed under load. Upon further inspection, manufacturing plant found a piece of steel had wedged against the scale pad, not allowing the scale pad to be depressed under load. On August 25, 2023, OCC and manufacturing reviewed manufacturing records, including weights of vehicles. On September 1, 2023, Forest Rivers Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall. Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-611 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Forest River will provide all parts and labor free of charge to Consumers and Dealers. A new accurate Federal Placard will be sent to Dealer and Consumers. Consumers may install the Federal Placard as per the instructions below; or contact an Authorized Forest River Dealer and or Service Center to have the Federal Placard replaced. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The concern was remedied the week of August 25, 2023, by removing the piece of steel and cleaning the scale pads. Forest River will send suspected VIN numbers to our third party vendor that is licensed to pull data on the current owner of the vehicles (as needed) once a formal NHTSA I.D. is provided. Forest River has decided that a noncompliance, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2024 Sabre Fifth Wheel recreational vehicles and fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, “Tire Selection and Rims and Recreation Vehicle Trailer Load Carrying Capacity Information” and 49 CFR Part 567 “Certification.” Additionally, this non-compliance fails to meet the requirements of Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations; (CMVSS) 120 “Tire Selection and Rims and Recreation Vehicle Trailer Load Carrying Capacity Information” and 567 Certification. This is to inform you that your vehicle may be non-compliant with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations and that the non-compliance could affect the safety of a person. Forest River has notified dealerships of this recall and have provided them with remedy instructions to install these Federal Placards if you are uncomfortable installing them yourself. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest River dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest River completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO? Federal Placard Installation:  The labels are located on the road side of the unit, low on the sidewall or on the upper deck on the same side and on the entry door;  Wipe off the labels with isopropyl alcohol;  Match the labels and carefully place the new labels directly on top of the old labels If you are not comfortable with installing these labels: Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by Forest River of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership.
