) is recalling certain 2023 X350 RA motorcycles. The fuel sensor may leak fuel.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the fuel sensor gasket, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 16, 2023. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson
customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Harley-Davidson

Purpose for Service Bulletin
This bulletin informs dealers that Harley-Davidson
has learned that the fuel sensor may leak on certain 2023 model X350 RA, X 350, and X 500 vehicles. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may lead to a fire.

REMOVE
1. Drain fuel tank. See service manual.
2. Remove seat. See service manual.
3. Remove cable strap and screw from battery hold down ground strap. See service manual.
4. Remove fuel tank seat tang screws. See service manual.
a. Remove rubber backing plate, isolators and dowels from the tank tab.
5. Remove seat catch. See service manual.

6. Lift rear of fuel tank and pull back slightly. Disconnect the following:
a. Remove fuel filter holder from bracket.
b. Disconnect fuel lever sensor connector.
c. Disconnect fuel pump connector.
d. Disconnect fuel line.
e. Reposition clamp and remove overflow hose from tank.
f. Remove hose from tip over valve.
7. Remove fuel level sensor screws and washers. See service manual.
a. Remove existing fuel level sensor gasket.
INSTALL
1. Install new fuel level sensor gasket and screws. See Service manual.
a. Tighten.
Torque: 5.5 N·m (49 in-lbs)
2. Install fuel tank on vehicle with rear of tank lifted. Connect the following:
a. Install hose from tip over valve.
b. Install overflow hose to tank and reposition clamp.
c. Connect fuel line.
d. Connect fuel pump connector.
e. Connect fuel lever sensor connector.
f. Install fuel filter holder to bracket.
3. Position fuel tank forward, make sure front tab goes under front section of frame.
4. Install rubber backing plate isolators and dowels.
5. Install seat catch and screws. Tighten.
Torque: 10 N·m (89 in-lbs)
6. Install side covers. Tighten.
Torque: 10 N·m (89 in-lbs)
7. Install cable strap and screw to battery hold down ground strap. See service manual.

07/06/2023 – Harley-Davidson
’s (H-D) Technical Subcommittee (TSC) is made aware of a field report alleging that there was a leak from a motorcycle fuel tank.
07/07 – 09/12/2023 – The TSC received additional field reports and launched an internal investigation into this matter. There were 29 known field reports related to this condition. We are not aware of any crashes, injuries, or fires associated with this condition.
09/12/2023 – Upon completion of the investigation, TSC escalated the matter to H-D’s Field Action Committee (FAC) for further consideration.
09/19/2023 – The FAC reviewed the TSC’s findings and analysis and escalated the matter to H-D’s Executive Decision Authority (EDA).
09/25/2023 – Based upon the information developed during the investigation, the EDA authorized a voluntary recall to address this condition.

Disconnect the following: a. Remove fuel filter holder from bracket. b. Disconnect fuel lever sensor connector. c. Disconnect fuel pump connector. d. Disconnect fuel line. e. Reposition clamp and remove overflow hose from tank. f. Remove hose from tip over valve. NOTE In the interest of preserving customer safety and satisfaction, always check for outstanding recalls whenever any motorcycle is brought into your dealership for either maintenance or service. Install overflow hose to tank and reposition clamp. c. Connect fuel line. d. Connect fuel pump connector. e. Connect fuel lever sensor connector. f. Install fuel filter holder to bracket. 3. Position fuel tank forward, make sure front tab goes under front section of frame. 4. Install rubber backing plate isolators and dowels. 5. Install seat catch and screws. Tighten. Torque: 10 N·m (89 in-lbs) 6. Install side covers. Tighten. Torque: 10 N·m (89 in-lbs) 7. Install cable strap and screw to battery hold down ground strap. See service manual. has learned that the FUEL SENSOR (P/N HD50800P420000) on certain Model Year 2023 X350 RA (Riding Academy), X 350, and X 500 motorcycles may leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may lead to a fire. IMPORTANT: If you choose to operate the motorcycle before this safety recall service has been completed, to reduce the risk associated with this condition, we recommend that you inspect the underside of the fuel tank to ensure no leaking is present. We have voluntarily declared that this condition constitutes a safety defect to allow us to formally recall (Campaign 0183) all affected motorcycles. The remedy is to first confirm that the motorcycles are covered by this recall. If covered, perform the recommended recall update per Service Bulletin M1609 (the “Bulletin”). As part of Campaign 0183, any affected fuel sensors (part number HD50800P420000) in your service parts inventory must also be remedied. The bulletin outlines the repair and credit procedures for the recall update, and additional relevant information. The recall kit (part number 91500115) will be used for Recall 0183. ’s (H-D) Technical Subcommittee (TSC) is made aware of a field report alleging that there was a leak from a motorcycle fuel tank. 07/07 – 09/12/2023 – The TSC received additional field reports and launched an internal investigation into this matter. There were 29 known field reports related to this condition. We are not aware of any crashes, injuries, or fires associated with this condition. 09/12/2023 – Upon completion of the investigation, TSC escalated the matter to H-D’s Field Action Committee (FAC) for further consideration. 09/19/2023 – The FAC reviewed the TSC’s findings and analysis and escalated the matter to H-D’s Executive Decision Authority (EDA). 09/25/2023 – Based upon the information developed during the investigation, the EDA authorized a voluntary recall to address this condition. requests that it be exempt from providing a notification of a reimbursement plan. Any pre-notification product failure would have been addressed under the manufacturer’s limited warranty.
