Date Number Release Page 10.2023 SC0451 01 1(6) LR Power Steering Assist Cylinder Castle Nut Torque LR RECALL INFORMATION (October 2023) Mack Trucks has determined that a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2024 LR model vehicles manufactured from August 25th, 2023, through September 19th, 2023. The castellated nut on the power steering assist cylinder to steering arm may have insufficient torque. If the power steering assist cylinder to steering arm connection should fail in operation, there could be a loss of vehicle control which could result in a crash. Mack Trucks has not received any field reports, warranty claims, or customer complaints associated with this safety issue; therefore, Mack considers this a proactive measure to protect the public and Mack’s customers from the potential risk associated with this defect. To ensure that these vehicles meet Mack’s rigorous quality requirements, follow the instructions outlined below to inspect the castle nut, re-torque, and install new cotter pin. VEHICLES AFFECTED Certain Macks manufactured between August 25th, 2023, and September 19th, 2023. VEHICLE QUANTITY There are 52 vehicles affected by this recall. (47 U.S., 5 CAN.)
