An incorrect fuse may overheat and increase the risk of a fire.

Gillig
, LLC (Gillig
) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Low Floor vehicles. The rearview mirror electric adjustment system may have been manufactured with an incorrect fuse.
Remedy
Gillig
will replace the protection fuse of the mirror control switch, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 15, 2024.

Chronology :
09/09/2022 A mirror adjuster failed on a customer vehicle with heavy smoke observed.
09/22/2022 The failed component was sent to the supplier of the adjuster (Safe Fleet) for inspection. GILLIG
continued to monitor for other failures potentially similar to the one reported.
03/17/2023 Two (2) additional field failures were reported to GILLIG
. The failed parts were sent to the supplier for further investigation.
06/30/2023 The protection fuse was determined to be a possible cause of the thermal damage experienced by the switch. It was proposed to lower the rating of the protection fuse from 5A to 1A.
From 06/30/2023 to 11/22/2023 while the supplier worked on a permanent corrective action, GILLIG
initiated an internal warranty analysis to determine the vehicle population that may be potentially affected by the issue.
11/22/2023 GILLIG
completed population analysis and identified a total of 3626 vehicles potentially affected by the defect.
11/27/2023 GILLIG
’s Safety Committee decided to file a formal Safety recall to repair the vehicle population affected by the issue.

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : All vehicle owners involved will be notified of the recall and all affected
vehicles will be corrected at no cost to the customer. Gillig
will cover all
costs incurred by the customers for any prenotification repair in accord
with the recall reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA.

The corrective action consists of a modified switch that incorporates a 1A
protection fuse

implemented factory containment on 10/28/2023. Any vehicle built
