Descriptive Information : The recall population was determined from a review of production records to include all units that had a Bobcat 260 welder installed on m track system.

Description of the Defect : The mounting fasteners of the channel-mounted welders might not align with the channel system preventing them from being properly tightened. If the fasteners loosen, the welder could slide off the channel system.

Description of the Safety Risk : The welder could become detached from the channel and unexpectedly fall
from the vehicle. If the welder detaches from the channel, damage to property or injury to persons nearby could occur.
Description of the Cause : NR Identification of Any Warning
that can Occur : A pre-trip inspection could identify a loose mounting fastener or loose welder. There is no other warning.

On November 17, 2023, the Altec received a report that a body-mounted welder had fallen from an Altec unit. No injury was reported. The customer identified loose mounting fasteners that allowed the welder to slide off the mounting channel system. Altec opened an investigation to determine the root cause, units affected, and the severity of the issue. On December 1, 2023, after reviewing production records and field reports, Altec determined that a defect could exist on units equipped with a certain model of channel-mounted welder. There have been no other accidents, injuries, or deaths related to this issue. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Altec will notify the owners and provide a remedy that will properly align
the welder mounting spacing to the channel ensuring the fasteners are tight and will secure the welder. The recall remedy will be completed free of charge when presented for repair. The Altec Warranty Policy covers the recall remedy including cases requiring reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The remedy will add a mounting bracket between the welder and channel system that aligns the mounting hardware with the channel. For the affected units, production was drilling holes into the welder base to align with the channel. The holes in the welder base might not align with the mounting channel. The improper alignment with the channel system prevented the fasteners from being tightened correctly. The improperly tightened fasteners could loosen, allowing the welder to slide on the channel system. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production :
For production units with the optional channel-mounted welder, a mounting bracket is added between the welder and the channel system with bolt patterns designed to match the welder and channel spacing. Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : Altec will issue CSN 3133 to the owners of the affected units. Altec does
not have a dealer network and issues letters to owners only.
