SAFETY RECALL – STOP SALE NOTIFICATION.
2015-2017 SANIBEL SNF3550 AND 2021-2023 SANIBEL SNF3902WB
Forest River has decided that a safety defect exists in certain 2015-2017 Sanibel SNF3550 and 2021-2023 Sanibel SNF3902WB Fifth Wheel Recreational Vehicles. Forest River is recalling the defect model(s) to ensure the safety of our future retail consumers and your dealership. Forest River is issuing a Stop Sale Notice effective immediately.
Please access your Home Page on Dealer Connect to verify if your Dealership has units in stock that are subject to this recall. Enter the Service Campaign number referenced above in the “Campaign Search” field, click on the “Campaign ID Number”. Next, select “MY VINS”. Not all Dealers have units in stock that are affected by this recall.
DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE:
The pin box (hitch) may be under rated for the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the vehicle.
EVALUATION OF RISK:
A pin-box that is not rated for the correct Gross Vehicle Weight Rating may fail, which may lead to a crash.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
The remedy is currently under development. A Notice will be issued when the remedy is available.

On February 5, 2024, the manufacturing plant was contacted by a customer that noticed the pin box was rated for less than the printed GVWR on the Federal Placard. On February 6, 2024, the manufacturing plant requested photos of the pin box and its rating from the customer. Photos where shared with the manufacturing plant which indicated the pin box was under rated. The same day, Forest River’s Office of Corporate Compliance was notified of the concern. On February 8, 2024, OCC communicated with the chassis supplier to help review if this model was built with the same pin box, or if the pin box was mistakenly installed (OEM or aftermarket). The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Part 573 Safety Recall Report 24V-116 Page 3 On February 12, 2024, OCC confirmed that the model was specified manufactured with the incorrect pin box. On February 14, 2024, after review of all other models by the manufacturing plant, another model was discovered. On February 16, 2024, Forest Rivers Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall. A Stop Sale Notice will be issued immediately following the filing of this recall. Description of Remedy :

On February 22, 2024, the manufacturing division provided weight sheet information to OCC that demonstrates that the 2015 through 2017 Sanibel SNF3550 has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (“GVWR”) of 15,500, which is the same as the pin box. Separately, OCC reviewed weight reports of 2015 through 2017 Sanibel SNF3550 and found that this model does not exceed the GVWR of the pin box. It is determined that the 2015 through 2017 Sanibel SNF3550 was erroneously included in the campaign whereas it should not have.
