Descriptive Information : • The suspect population is identified by models equipped with feature code 08TVB (Stop, Turn, Tail & B/U Lights top LED).
• The inclusive dates of manufacture were determined by the date vehicles were assembled with reversed turn signal circuits in the rear taillamp jumper harness and when Navistar contained the issue in manufacturing.
• The vehicles in the suspect population were built with rear taillamp assembly jumper harnesses with reversed turn signal circuits and all other similar vehicles were not.
There are 38 LT series trucks in the suspect population Production Dates : JAN 03, 2024 – JAN 23, 2024

Description of the Defect : • When the turn signals are activated in either direction, the front and side turn signal lamps flash correctly but the rear turn signal lamps flash in the opposite direction.
• The rear turn signals do not conform to:
o FMVSS S108 S4 Definitions, “Turn Signal Lamps” are a signaling element of a turn signal system which indicates the intention to turn or change direction by giving a flashing light on the side toward which the turn will be made.
o FMVSS 108 S7.1.2.5 – Rear Turn Signal Lamp Activation Table 1-a, Device Activation, “…Flash when the turn signal flasher is actuated by the turn signal operating unit.” FMVSS 1 : 108 – Lamps, reflective devices, and assoc. Equipment FMVSS 2 : NR
Description of the Safety Risk : Turn signals that do not conform to all the requirements of FMVSS 108 may not alert other motorists of the direction of the intended turn or change of direction which can increase the risk of a vehicle crash that may result in property damage or injury.
Description of the Cause : Two wires were reversed in the jumper harness connector of P/N 6726984C92, rear taillight jumper harness, manufactured on 12/20/2023. Identification of Any Warning

Chronology :
• 01/30/2024 – During a pre-delivery inspection, Navistar Manufacturing sends communication to Navistar Quality that a vehicle was found with the rear turn signals flashing in the opposite direction due to two wires reversed in the tail lamp jumper harness.
• 01/31/2024 – Navistar issues a ship hold at the assembly plant and initiates inspections of quarantined vehicles.
• 02/02/2024 – Navistar meets with the supplier to discuss the issue and to review the supplier’s processes and opens investigation to determine if there are any vehicles impacted in the field.
• 02/05/2024 through 02/23/2024 – Navistar Manufacturing inspects 179 units and repairs five. A customer/dealer inspection was inconclusive as to the presence of the issue in units that made it out of Navistar control.
• 02/26/2024 – Navistar Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Safety meet to review the vehicle inspection/failure data and determine that vehicles with suspect jumper harnesses were assembled at the supplier on the second shift of 12/20/2024.
• 02/28/2024 – Navistar Product Safety finalizes the suspect population.
• 02/29/2024 – Navistar declares a Non Compliance Recall.
Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : • The remedy will involve replacing the taillight jumper harness on
any truck found with the rear turn signals flashing in the opposite direction.
• Navistar’s plan for reimbursement of pre-notification remedies, on file with NHTSA and dated 05/06/2022, applies and reimbursement instructions will be included in the customer notification. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The remedy taillight jumper harness was assembled with the rear turn signal circuits in their correct connector cavities and the recalled taillight jumper harness was assembled with the rear turn signal circuits reversed in the connector cavities.
01/31/2024 – Navistar begins use of correctly wired taillight jumper harnesses in Manufacturing. Recall Schedule :
