Descriptive Information : The subject tire’s noncompliant population was determined by reviewing the curing records for the one curing mold where the Tire Identification Number (TIN) was missing the required date code (week and year code). The noncompliant tires differ from the compliant tires because they are missing the 4-digit week and year code in the TIN.

The subject non-compliant tires were produced with the curing press ID number, C13R, installed in the TIN in place of the required week and year code, 5023, as required per §574.5 (b) (3). FMVSS 1 : 574 – Tire Identification & Recordkeeping FMVSS 2 : NR
Description of the Safety Risk : The missing date code on the tire may prevent consumers from making
informed decisions related to the age of the tire which may lead to prolonged usage. Prolonged usage could increase the risk of a crash.

On 4/8/24 a report of an irregular Tire Identification Number from a customer was received concerning a tire with a missing date code. Based on that report, the TIN, bead bar code number, mold number, and curing press ID number were obtained from the tire and the manufacturing facility was contacted to review the curing records for that specific tire.
The manufacturing facility reviewed the traceability data over the next several days, and it was discovered that one curing mold did not have a date code slug in the mold for a period of time.
On 4/17/24, it was determined that 82 tires without a date code were shipped to customers. The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Part 573 Safety Recall Report 24T-003 Page 3 Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : All subject tires will be replaced by tires featuring a compliant date code
portion of the TIN at no charge to the customer. Instructions to dealers will specify any tire removed under this recall to be rendered unsuitable for resale for installation on motor vehicles prior to returning to Goodyear for credit. The consumer notification letter will be sent to NHTSA for review and approval prior to being mailed. All recall tires returned to Goodyear will be used by our recycler for various recycling purposes. Any consumer who replaced recalled tires before receiving the recall notification letter may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre- notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. These consumers can contact the Goodyear Consumer Relations Department at 800-321-2136 for more information. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The remedy tires will contain a compliant date code portion of the TIN. When the date code slug was changed in the mold to the next week (5123), the noncompliant TIN was corrected. Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (Goodyear) will initiate a
voluntary recall of the subject tires. Goodyear will contact registered owners that purchased tires with the noncompliant TIN by mail.
Customer correspondence will explain the issue and include instructions on how to obtain replacement tires at no cost, as well as instructions for collecting reimbursement for remedies made prior to the recall. The tires with affected identification numbers should be returned to the Goodyear product service center where they will be inspected for a missing date code. All tires found to have a missing date code will be replaced and will be scrapped according to applicable law. Consumers who have had their tires replaced before this recall may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. In accordance with the provisions of 49 C.F.R.
§ 573.6(c)(9)(i), Goodyear will make dealers aware of the legal requirements associated with the prohibition against the sale of recalled tires through a Dealer Notification Letter that will be submitted to the agency separately pursuant to 49 C.F.R. § 573.6(c)(10). The program for disposing of all recalled tires returned to Goodyear will comply with applicable state and local laws and regulations regarding the disposal of tires, and to the extent possible, tires will be channeled into a category of positive reuse or another alternative beneficial non-vehicular reuse, instead of being disposed of in landfills.

Goodyear G622 RSD size 225/7-R19.5 LR G,
Dear Dealer:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has determined that certain Goodyear 622 RSD tires,
size 225/70R19.5 LRG, manufactured in the 50th week of 2023, (December 10 – December 16,
2023), i.e., “Subject Tires” fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS)
574 – Tire Identification and Recordkeeping. Goodyear is therefore conducting a voluntary tire
recall to replace the subject tires free of charge, including mounting and balancing. We are
contacting you because records indicate that you may have purchased one or more of the subject
tires.
What is the Problem?
Certain Goodyear G622 RSD tires, size 225/70R19.5 LR G, from week 5023, have been
manufactured with the date code portion of the tire identification number (TIN) not meeting the
regulatory requirement to show week and year. The subject non-compliant tires were produced
with the curing press ID number, C13R, installed in the TIN in place of the required week and
year code, 5023, as required per FMVSS 574. Only these specific tires (the “subject tires”) with
noncompliant TIN are part of this recall. A photo of the noncompliant date code portion of the
TIN is shown below.
This noncompliance may prevent consumers from making informed decisions related to the age
of the tire which may lead to prolonged usage which may increase the risk of a crash.
What Tires are Affected?
This recall involves the following tires only:

Only tires that exhibit the noncompliant date code, are being recalled. Tires from the 50th week of
2023 that exhibit a compliant date code portion of the TIN are not subject tires and are not eligible
for free replacement.

What Should You Do?
Records indicate that you may have purchased one or more of the subject tires. First, please
check your inventory for any unsold subject tires. Any such tires found in inventory must not be
sold and must be returned through the warranty return process described in the enclosed
Goodyear Product Service Bulletin.
“YOU ARE PROHIBITED BY FEDERAL LAW FROM SELLING OR LEASING NEW OR
USED TIRES COVERED BY THIS NOTIFICATION.”
If a dealer knowingly sells or leases new or used recalled tires, that sale must be reported to the
Associate Administrator for Enforcement, NHTSA, 1200 New Jersey Ave., SE, Washington, DC
20590, within five working days after a person to whom the sale or lease has been made has
taken possession of that tire. The required contents for such report are provided in NHTSA’s
regulation at 49 C.F.R. § 573.10.
Second, we ask that you contact any consumers or other dealers who may have purchased one of
these tires from you and ask for the tires to be returned for inspection and replacement. The
enclosed Product Service Bulletin provides details about this program. We are also enclosing a
Goodyear consumer letter that can be forwarded to your customers that purchased these tires.
