Description of the Defect : In some of the affected vehicles, the power steering pressure line may be inadequately connected to the brake Hydroboost unit, which may result in a leak or sudden loss of power steering fluid. Sudden loss of power steering fluid may result in a loss of power steering assist, requiring increased steering effort, and loss of power brake assist, requiring increased force on the pedal to brake, potentially resulting in increased stopping distance.

In response to Ford Safety Recall 22S08, Micro Bird filed Safety Recall 2022-617 on October 28, 2022, recalling the electric vehicles in which the defect may be present, either part of Ford Safety Recall 22S08 or not. At the time, Recall 22S08 instructed to conduct a joint integrity inspection, and if the connection failed the inspection, the power steering lines were to be replaced.
Following reports of power steering pressure line leaks or disconnections in vehicles that had passed the 22S08 inspection, on February 9, 2024, Ford recalled the vehicles that have not yet been repaired as well as those that had passed the 22S08 inspection, with instructions to replace the power steering pressure line and the hydro boost jumper line (Ford Safety Recall 24V097). As with Recall 22S08, since all vehicles built on the recalled chassis had been delivered, Micro Bird was not notified of this recall.
On April 8, 2024, while consulting NHTSA’s recalls database, it was noticed that another manufacturer. had recalled vehicles based on Ford Safety Recall 24V097.
The pertinent information, such as Ford’s and Jayco’s recalls, and the vehicles recalled in our Safety Recall 2022-617, was analyzed, and on April 22, 2024, it was decided to recall the electric vehicles part of Recall 2022-617 that either had not been inspected nor repaired or had passed the inspected without needing repair but may still present the defect.

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Micro Bird Corporation will provide field modification instructions and
material to mitigate this recall at no charge. It will be the responsibility of the bus owners to have their vehicle(s) corrected by a Micro Bird dealer.
Owners who have incurred costs to obtain a remedy for the defect addressed by this recall campaign within a reasonable time in advance of notification, may submit their claims to Ecotuned Technologies.
Reimbursement, in part or in full, will be provided upon approval of the claim.
