Summary
AFCO Performance Group, LLC (Legend Suspensions
) is recalling certain Legend Revo Arc Remote Reservoir FLH kits. The rear suspension fluid reservoir mounting brackets may crack and break.
Remedy
Legend Suspensions will provide new brackets, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 3, 2024. Owners may contact AFCO customer service at 1-800-632-2320.

Chronology :
On November 30, 2023, the Legend Suspensions Sales & Customer Service Supervisor provided a report to Legend management that outlined a request to provide a service bulletin to the market regarding the bracket cracking issue. As of April 29, 2024, 66 customer claims have been placed with the Legend Suspensions customer service team. This is equivalent to a 2.2% failure rate based on total sales of the impacted products.
From December 2023 to March 2024, the Legend Suspensions management team gathered data and researched methods to distribute a service bulletin to the market. At the conclusion, a sample service bulletin was created on March 5, 2024.
On March 12, 2024, the service bulletin proposal was sent to the AFCO Performance Group, LLC. Executive team for review.
On March 22, 2024, the Executive team for AFCO Performance Group, LLC, met to discuss potential NHTSA submittal. Throughout March and April, the Executive team considered this action.
On April 29, 2024, despite the lack of replication in testing and in an abundance of caution, Legend Suspensions determined to notify the 118 retail customers and distributors of the reservoir mounting bracket issue and conduct a recall to replace the brackets.

Description of the Defect : Legend Suspensions has received reports of shock reservoir brackets cracking or failing during use.

Description of the Safety Risk : If the reservoir mounting bracket breaks, the reservoir could fall from its
mounted position and could result in motorcycle damage and/or cause instability of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash. If a reservoir falls and the fluid-supply hose is disconnected, the reservoir could be left in the roadway, creating a potential debris hazard for other motorists.
Description of the Cause : Legend Suspensions has not been able to replicate cracking or breakage during testing, but visible vibration in the bracket has been excited by various harmonics from the motorcycle. Legend Suspensions believes any fatiguing, cracking, or breaking in the field may be related to such vibration and may be more likely where stock motorcycle exhaust systems have been modified, and/ or engine performance alterations have been made in a manner that could increase vibration. Description of Remedy Program : New design brackets will be offered to customers through a recall
program. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The remedy component (bracket) has a thicker cross section that has higher mounting rigidity and likely moves the system natural frequency out of the motorcycle operating range.
The dates for the first shipment to customers of the shock kits with revised brackets are outlined below:
