Summary
Aluminum Trailer Company (ATC) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Toy Hauler 5th wheel trailers. The LED backlight circuit board in the cooktop range may fail, causing the board to overheat.
Remedy
Dealers will cut the circuit powering the LED backlights
and terminate the wiring, or remove the LED backlights, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 14, 2024. Owners may contact ATC customer service at 1-877-441-2440, ext. 3422.

Chronology :
Suburban Manufacturing notified of recall 24E-028. After review of the time period of the recall, it was determined that 398 toy haulers are potentially impacted by the recall. ATC determined the recall population and confirmed receipt of the impacted product 5/15/2024 and proceeded to file the claim

WARNING
This appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons unless they have been adequately supervised by a responsible person to ensure they can use the appliance safely.
To prevent electrical shock and/or equipment damage, disconnect electrical power to the system at the main fuse or circuit breaker until installation is complete.
CAUTION
This electrical work must be performed by trained technicians only. Adhere to all local and national codes and ordinances. Take care when securing and routing wires so they do not short. Personal injury and/or property damage may occur.
This electrical work will disable the function of the red, white and oven lights.
1.
Disconnect 12VDC power to the range.
2.
Remove the range main top by firmly pulling up at the front. Lift the main top free of the burner box clips and set aside.
3.
Locate the red and black wires that connect to the coach wiring (Coach wiring color may vary). Cut this wire directly behind the connector using a pair of electrical cutters.
4.
Crimp the Crimp Caps(233759) to incoming 12V positive and negative to prevent lights from being reattached.
5.
Locate and unplug the wires from the light switch on the front of the unit, Then remove the light switch by squeezing the locking tabs and replace with the plug provided in the kit (233754).
6.
Replace the main top by engaging rear clips and pressing firmly on the front latch.
7.
Close the glass cover (if equipped).
8.
Reconnect 12VDC power.

RE: IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTIFICATION – NHTSA Recall Notice 24V-354 – ATC Toy hauler with a Suburban slide in range with red LED backlit knobs.
To: All Dealers
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
The Aluminum Trailer Company (“ATC”) has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2021-2024 ATC Toy hauler 5th Wheels specifically with a Suburban slide in range with red LED backlit knobs that were manufactured by ATC from December 2021 to April 1st, 2024.
If the trailer specified has a Suburban slide in range with red LED backlit knobs, the LED backlit printed circuit boards (PCB) could fail. If the PCB fails, it can become overheated, and the polyethylene cover of the lights can melt and possibly ignite causing a fire. Safety of all past and present ATC trailers is our top priority.
Owners will be notified by mail about the recall. ATC will remedy the defect without charge by assisting Suburban in the repair of the range. ATC will work with Suburban to supply the required parts kit and work instructions for the repair. There is no cost to owners for this recall. ATC will reimburse any customer who incurred costs to repair the defect before our notification was sent.
Please be reminded that it is a violation of Federal law for you to sell or lease the trailers covered by this notification until this recall has been performed on these trailers. Substantial civil penalties apply to violations of this law.

Description of the Defect : Suburban Manufacturing has advised on recall 24E-028 The LED backlight printed circuit boards (PCB) are not fully coated. The lack of conformal coating in the connection passages between the layers of the PCB can allow liquid from the cooktop surface to accumulate which could result in a short circuit resulting in the failure of the PCB.

Description of Remedy Program : There are 2 remedies for this issue. The LED backlights can be removed
from the range, or the circuit powering the LED backlights can be cut and properly terminated. ATC will supply replacement materials if needed as they will be provided by Suburban under the recall. ATC will work with Suburban to supply the parts kits to service facilities making the repair. If a customer or dealer has incurred costs for the range that would have been covered with this repair, those costs will be reimbursed. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The remedied range will have the LED backlights removed or the circuit for the Red LED lights terminated
As of April 1st, 2024 all product received from Suburban was corrected and the new product was issued to production.
