Descriptive Information : Using various manufacturing documents and drawings, as well as personnel records, research was conducted to determine the population of BC900XLs with an incorrect torque value listed in the maintenance and service manuals. The incorrect lug nut torque value is unique to certain BC900XL units. 1173 units are involved in this campaign.

Description of the Defect : Incorrect lug nut torque value was listed in the BC900XL service and maintenance manuals for affected machines.
Lug nuts on affected machines were torqued properly in production prior to shipment from manufacturer. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR
Description of the Safety Risk : Incorrect lug nut torque may cause wheel lug nuts to loosen. This may

2/12/2024-Product safety engineer was made aware of an incorrect torque value in the service manual. 3/13/2024-The scope of affected service manuals was determined.

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Vermeer will prepare field remedy kits which will include the necessary
parts and instructions to resolve safety issues. These field remedy kits will be provided to customers. Upon receipt of remedy kit, customers will be reimbursed for their labor to replace manual. Owners will be notified of the potential safety risk and available field remedy kit by letter according to the product database records maintained by Vermeer Corporation.
Vermeer Corporation pays for all parts and labor for product safety recalls regardless of whether the machine is still covered by its one-year standard limited warranty or whether the warranty has expired. Vermeer Corporation will reimburse a retail customer/machine owner when the owner has paid for a repair prior to the product safety alert field campaign. Owner must provide proof of repair. For an owner to obtain reimbursement, owner must inquire with an authorized, independent Vermeer dealer. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The replacement manuals will give proper lug nut torque value. Issue was corrected in production in January 2022. Recall Schedule :
