Summary
ST Engineering Hackney, Inc. (STE Hackney) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Kidron Refrigerated Trailers. The wheel lug nuts may not be tightened properly.
Remedy
STE hackney will provide instructions to inspect and tighten the wheel lug nuts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 27, 2024. Owners may contact STE Hackney customer service at 1-252-946-6521.

Chronology :
On May 13, 2024 the Kidron sales team received a communication from a customer regarding an issue with a trailer loosing the outside tire (Unit # 24Y00080). Our Internal investigation concluded that the operator failed to follow the wheel assembly procedure properly on units manufactured between January 2, and May 13, 2024.
On May 14, 2024 our Service bulletin 240514 was issued asking customer to confirm wheel nuts torque spec on the identified units.

1. – Inspect and confirm that the wheel nuts have the correct torque applied.
Minimum 450 ft lbs. Maximum 500 ft lbs.
Risk: Wheel could become loose
It was identified that the torque on the wheel nuts was not confirmed on some trailers manufactured in
Independence, Kansas plant from 01/01/24 2024 to 05/13/2024.
2.- If the torque is under the spec. apply the correct torque spec. 450-500 ft lbs.

Inspect the units in the
list attached as soon as
feasible.
