Insufficient Clearance May Cause Tire Failure

Summary
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2024 Forest River Rainier, Stealth Evo, Salem, Vibe, and Wildwood travel trailers. The tire may contact the vehicle body due to insufficient clearance, which can cause tire damage.
Remedy
Dealers will install taller shackles and equalizers, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 10, 2024. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-503-831-5410. Forest River’s number for this recall is 22-1789.

Chronology :
During a routine Corporate Standards Audit during the week of May 3, 2024, it was discovered that when the manufacturing plant installed the optional tire, the clearance above the tire appeared to be inconsistent with the recommended tire to structure minimum distance once the recreational vehicle is manufactured.
From May 7, 2024, through May 28, 2024, the manufacturing plant reviewed the condition and researched if any vehicles may have shipped.
On May 28, 2024, the manufacturing plant contacted Forest River’s Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”).
OCC opened a research item and continued to help the plant evaluate the condition.
On May 31, 2024, Forest Rivers Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall.

Forest River has decided that a safety defect exists in certain 2024 Rainier RNT18DBR, Salem SMT189RSK, SMT191SS, Stealth Evo SJT189RS, SJT192SS, Vibe VBT16RB, VBT17RS, VBT18DB, and Wildwood WDT189RSK Travel Trailers. Forest River is recalling the defective model(s) to ensure the safety of our future retail consumers and your dealership. Forest River is issuing a Stop Sale Notice effective immediately.
Please access your Home Page on Dealer Connect to verify if your Dealership has units in stock that are subject to this recall. Enter the Service Campaign number referenced above in the “Campaign Search” field and click on the “Campaign ID Number”. Next, select “MY VINS”. DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE:
Under full jounce of the axle, the tire may contact the structure above the tire, which may lead to tire failure.
EVALUATION OF RISK:
If the tire contacts the structure, the tire may fail leading to loss of vehicle control and causing a crash.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
The remedy is under development. A second notice will be sent when the remedy is available.

Description of Remedy Program : Forest River will provide all parts and labor free of charge to Consumers
and Dealers. An authorized Forest River dealer will need to perform the remedy to install taller shackles and equalizers. What is the Forest River Customer Service Phone Number?
