LED Backlight Circuit Board Failure May Cause Fire

Summary
HOST INDUSTRIES (Host) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Host Mammoth, Yukon, Cascade, Tahoe, and Everest trailers. The LED backlight circuit board in the cooktop range may fail, causing the board to overheat.
Remedy
Dealers will cut the circuit powering the LED backlights
and terminate the wiring, or remove the LED backlights, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed 2nd quarter of 2024. Owners may contact Host customer service at 1-541-330-2328 ext. 5.

Chronology :
4/29/2024 – Suburban notified Host Industries Inc. Compliance by email of their equipment recall 24E-028 that they filed with NHTSA regarding certain slide in range models that contain Red LED backlight knobs that we purchased affected by their equipment recall 24E-028.
5/23/24 – NHTSA had informed us of recall.
5/29/24 – The warranty department and management had discussed the incident and had started an investigation on which customers were affected.
The remedy for the defect will be to disconnect and cut the circuit powering all of the LED backlights and properly terminate all of the wiring.
The remedy will be done at no cost to the owner.
Repairs made prior to the recall will be reimbursed.
Host will notify affected retail owners and dealers. Host will file completion reports.

Description of the Defect : The LED backlight printed circuit boards (PCB) are not fully coated. The lack of conformal coating in the connection passages between the layers of the PCB can allow liquid from the cooktop surface to accumulate which could result in a short circuit resulting in the failure of the PCB

Description of the Safety Risk : If the PCB fails, it can be come overheated and the polyethylene cover of the lights can melt and possibly ignite causing a fire.
Description of the Cause : The PCBs did not have the correct amount of conformal coating to properly seal the circuit board from contamination. Identification of Any Warning
that can Occur : The LED backlights of the cooktop knobs can remain on even when they are in the off position. The LED backlights can come on and stay illuminated at
