Insufficient Tire Load Range

Tires with an insufficient Load Range may fail, increasing the risk of crash.

Summary

Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland) is recalling certain 2019 Prowler and Trail Runner recreational trailers. The trailers were equipped with Load Range D tires instead of Load Range E tires.

 

Remedy

Heartland has notified owners, and dealers will replace the tires with ones of the correct load range, free of charge. The recall began February 14, 2019. Owners may contact Heartland customer service at 1-877-262-8032. Heartland’s number for this recall is 99.01.46.

This notice applies to your vehicle:  VIN # Dear owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Heartland RV (Heartland) has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Heartland travel trailers manufactured from October 8, 2018 to November 30, 2018.  We apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause you, however your safety and continued satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us.

Reason for this recall	It has been decided the vehicles in this recall population may have been manufactured with ST225/75R15 Load Range D Tires rated for 2540 lbs. instead of ST225/75R15 Load Range  E Tires rated for 2860 lbs. These incorrect load range tires were inadvertently installed when the specification was incorrectly changed. This could result in overloading of the trailer tires which could result in poor handling, Premature Tire Failure and increased risk of an accident.
What we will do	Heartland will have an authorized dealer or repair center inspect your tires to verify they match your Federal tire and VIN plaque. If your vehicles has the wrong tires installed replacement tires with the correct load range will be install. This defect will be corrected at no expense to you, the owner. The recall remedy should take about 80 minutes to complete.
What we need you to do	At your earliest convenience, Please contact your local dealer to set up an appointment to have this inspected and if needed corrected immediately, this service will be performed free of charge.  You will need the following information for the phone call: VIN of your travel trailer Name, Address, and Phone Number
