Summary
Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2019 Dutchmen Aspen Trail and Coleman recreational trailers, equipped with a Capital cooktop inside the unit as the main cooking appliance. When the furnace is on, the cooktop flames may become inverted, which may lead to an excessive heat build up and a potential burn hazard.
Remedy
Keystone has notified owners, and dealers will replace the Capital cooktop with an alternate cooktop, free of charge. The recall began April 5, 2019. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone’s number for this recall is 19-348.

Capital Two-Burner Cooktop
Keystone is conducting a voluntary RECALL notification campaign in accordance with the National Highway Transportation and Safety Act It has been decided that the vehicles in the recall population have a Capital two-burner cooktop that the burner flame may by be affected during furnace operation. Under certain conditions during furnace operation, the burner flame can invert leading to an increased risk of personal injury, and/or fire.
Models Included:
2019 Aspen Trail Travel Trailers: 1700BH, 1750RD, 1760BH, 1800RB, 1850RB
2019 Coleman Travel Trailers: 17FQ, 17RD, 18FQ
Serial Number Ranges:
2019 Aspen Trail K8922634 – K8923688
2019 Coleman KH938316 – KH938452
Parts Required:
1 – KRV # 252380 – Range – Drop In – Outside Burner Box – Box Only – 2937A
1 – KRV # 265866 – Range – Top Only – SDN2 – Black
Tools Required:
– Screw gun – #2 square drive screw bit – 11/16” and 7/8” wrench – Manometer
Note – Check serial number on Key Express to verify the campaign is open. Some vehicles were repaired before they left Keystone.
When performing warranty or recall service, please make certain that appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used.
The remedy is to inspect the interior cook top to verify that it is a Capital brand or a Suburban brand appliance. The affected Capital appliance is stainless steel. Remove the affected stainless steel interior Capital two-burner cooktop and install a black Suburban cooktop in its place.
REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1
Locate the trailer on a level, flat, hard surface. Chock the wheels. Turn off propane supply at the bottle.
Step 2
Locate the interior two-burner cooktop and verify that it is a stainless steel Capital two-burner cooktop and remove the burner top (two mounting screws). If the cooktop is a black Suburban brand appliance, proceed to inspection only in warranty reimbursement.
Step 3
Remove the four screws mounting the box to the counter top (Figure 1), remove the propane gas supply line. Remove the remove the Capital burner box (discard).
Step 4
Install KRV # 252380 – Range – Drop In – Outside Burner Box – Box Only, attaching the propane gas supply and installing 4 mounting screws. For more details see the installation instructions that come with the part.
Step 5
Perform leak test and install the burner top and grills.
Step 6
Proceed to warranty reimbursement instructions.

As a result, Keystone RV is conducting a safety recall. We apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause you; however your safety and continued satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us.

| What we will do | Keystone representatives have been in contact with the staff at your selling dealership regarding this situation. The remedy is to remove the existing cooktop and install a different brand that is not affected in the same manner as the Capital two-burner cooktop. The service and parts required for this corrective action will be provided at no charge to you. |
| What we need you to do | As soon as possible, please make an appointment to have your RV serviced by your dealership. The labor time to perform this correction is approximately 1 hour. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much additional time will be needed to schedule and process your RV for this repair. |
| If you have questions | Your dealer is best equipped to obtain parts and provide service to ensure your RV is corrected as promptly as possible. Please contact Keystone Customer service if your dealer is unable to assist or if you take your RV to your dealer on the agreed service date, and the dealer does not remedy the condition within a reasonable amount of time, or without charge to you.
