| Cause | Note that this code does not cause any physical symptoms. There is no effect to vehicle operation and this code does not set any warning lights on the instrument cluster. It will only appear on a DTC readout if one is performed. Any physical symptoms or other fault codes present should be diagnosed as normal.
Model year 2018 and 2019 vehicles may experience DTC MID 140 PSID 210 FMI 12 with a significant number of occurrences logged when a DTC readout is reviewed. It has been determined that the code is logged due to an Instrument Cluster Watchdog ECU timeout, a function embedded in the cluster’s main software. It is also possible that a third party module may be causing communication interference on the J1587 Data Link. New software has been released to address this issue. With the new software, the cluster will have an extended window of time to power down last and prevent the code from setting. |
