A26 Engine Fuel Delivery Pressure Sensor (FDP) and Harness Pigtail Eliminated
DESCRIPTION
This document will explain the removal of the fuel delivery pressure sensor and harness pigtail on the A26 engine. The early built
A26 engines had the fuel delivery pressure sensor installed in the engine mounted fuel filter housing (Figure #1) however, the ECM never monitored the signal from it. Later the sensor was removed, the port was plugged, and the engine harness was modified to remove the pigtail and the connector for it.
SERVICE PARTS INFORMATION
| Description | Part Number | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| HARNESS, ENGINE SENSOR | 7099264C92 | Original harness – Has the FDP sensor pigtail and connector. |
| HARNESS, ENGINE SENSOR | 7099264C94 | Updated harness – Does not have the FDP sensor pigtail or connector. |
REPAIR STEP(s)
HARNESS INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:
Questions from the field have come up while installing a replacement engine harness. Some of the C92 engine harnesses may come through parts when you are replacing a harness on an engine that does not have a FDP sensor installed.
IT IS ACCEPTABLE to install a C92 harness on a newer engine not equipped with the FDP sensor.
The unused pigtail (Figure #1 item 2) and connector for the FDP sensor can simply be tied off and tucked out of the way OR The pigtail (Figure #1 item 2) can be cut off, and apply heat shrink tubing at the wire ends The wiring for those circuits to the ECM are not used
