Summary
Transportation Power, Inc. (TransPower) is recalling certain 2017-2018 electric trucks built on Peterbilt
579 chassis. The vehicles do not have stabilization hardware and software that interacts with the braking system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 136, “Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles.”
Remedy
TransPower will notify owners, and dealers will install an Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system, free of charge. The recall began September 26, 2019. Owners may contact TransPower customer service at 1-858-248-4255.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Transportation Power (TransPower) has decided that your vehicle, with the serial number provided above, was not manufactured with the systems necessary to meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 136, Electronic Stability Control Systems for Heavy Vehicles. Without a compliant ESC system, there is an increased risk of a vehicle crash.
What Is The Concern?
TransPower has determined that the vehicle(s) referenced above were not manufactured with an ESC system that meets the requirements of FMVSS 136. Without the required system, there is a greater chance of loss of stability control which can increase the risk of a crash.
What We Will Do
TransPower will remedy the vehicle(s) listed above by installing the hardware and software necessary to meet the requirements of FMVSS 136. The installation is expected to take approximately 8 hours. TransPower will complete the work at no cost to you. TransPower will contact you directly to make arrangements to schedule the work.
