Summary
Capco USA inc. (Capco) is recalling certain CTR Outer Tie Rods sold for aftermarket installation. The taper on the ball studs may affect the durability of the outer tie rods.
Remedy
Capco will notify the affected distributors, and will provide replacement outer tie rods to the retail customers, free of charge. The recall began on October 3, 2019. Owners may contact Capco customer service at 1-248-994-0815.

NHTSA is missing critical, required information for this safety recall. This information must be supplied through the NHTSA Recalls Portal within 5 working days of confirming its accuracy:
– A statement that the defect or noncompliance can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning; or a description of whatever prior warning may occur, and a statement that if this warning is not heeded, a vehicle crash can occur (49 CFR 577.5 (f)(1)).

What is The Concern?
You are receiving this letter because AutoZone’s records indicate that you may have purchased one or more of the affected Outer Tie Rods from AutoZone. The defect may lead to loss of vehicle control and may cause a crash without warning. Some owners may experience a vibration in the steering wheel, hear an unusual sound or feel abnormal play when turning the steering wheel. The affected Outer Tie Rods are as follows:

If your Outer Tie Rod is still in the box, the name DURALAST® will be printed on the outside of the box.
CAPCO is recalling all of the Outer Tie Rods bearing the CTR logo with any date code shown in the table above. The CTR logo and date code of your Outer Tie Rod can be located on the tie rod end. The vehicle must be mechanically lifted under the supervision of a skilled mechanic in order to see the tie rod end.
What Should You Do?
- If you believe you own a vehicle equipped with an affected Outer Tie Rod, please contact our customer service center at 1-877-597-9588 and provide them with the appropriate owner information to get your affected Outer Tie Rod inspected and replaced FREE OF CHARGE. If you have already incurred costs to remedy the affected Outer Tie Rod before receiving this notice, please call our customer service center to see if you are eligible for reimbursement.
- The repair will take approximately 45 minutes.
- If your Outer Tie Rod purchased from AutoZone has not yet been installed on a vehicle, please contact our customer service center at 1-877-597-9588 and provide them with the appropriate owner information to get your affected Outer Tie Rod replaced FREE OF CHARGE.
