If the lug nuts loosen while the vehicle is in motion, the wheel may detach and become a road hazard, or there may be a loss of control of the trailer. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash.

Summary
Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain 2016-2020 BC1000XL, BC1200XL, BC1500, and AX19 brush chipper trailers. Incorrect lug nuts may have been installed, possibly resulting in the lug nuts loosening.
Remedy
Vermeer will notify owners and dealers will provide replacement 17.5” wheel/tire assembly, new wheel maintenance safety sign, tire specification placard, and supplemental operator’s and maintenance manual with wheel maintenance instructions, free of charge. Vermeer issued owners an interim notification on March 19, 2020. The recall began July 6, 2020. Owners may contact Vermeer customer service at 1-800-829-0051, extension 7060. Vermeer’s number for this recall is IK3922.

A CLUTCHLESS PTO SYSTEM. Avoids
premature wear to the belt-drive system by
preventing high-speed engagement of the cutter
drum. The throttle is integrated with the belt drive
to help ensure the PTO can be engaged only while
the engine is at low speed.
EXTENDED WARRANTY. The 3-year/
3000-hour extended limited warranty on drum
housing, cutter drum, shaft and ring-fetter hubs
offers you peace of mind, in addition to the
1-year/1000-hour Vermeer equipment

ECOIDLE™ ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM.
When the EcoIdle function is selected by the
operator, the engine speed automatically lowers
to a preset rpm after 1 minute or 5 minutes of
inactivity to help reduce fuel consumption when
not chipping material. Due to this idling, noise and
greenhouse emissions are also reduced.

ROBUST FEED TABLE. Mechanized feeding

feed roller opening and a durable, fixed infeed
table design.
SMARTCRUSH. Increase jobsite productivity
with the SmartCrush system that includes
intuitive hydraulic crushing capabilities to

The winch boom can be removed and installed

CHIPPING PRODUCTIVITY. The SmartFeed
system monitors engine rpm and automatically
stops and reverses the feed rollers to enhance
production. This system also senses feed roller
jams and manipulates the material automatically
to reduce the need for manual control bar use.

OPERATOR SAFETY. Mounted over the feed
table, the four-position upper feed control bar
enables the operator to stop the feed rollers and
select forward/reverse. The patented bottom feed
stop bar is strategically located to make it possible
for an operator’s leg to strike the bar and shut
off the feed mechanism either intentionally or
automatically in an emergency situation.
TAKE CONTROL. With the optional Tree
Commander™ remote control, jobsite productivity is
improved by allowing the operator to control brush
chipper functions remotely. The remote can be
attached to the operator’s belt or held in an optional
bracket mounted directly to the operator’s station of
a Vermeer compact utility loader.

OPERATOR SAFETY. Combined with the

upper feed control bar with dual stop positions and
forward/reverse feed positions. Mounted over the
feed table, it enables the operator to stop the feed
rollers and select forward or reverse operations.
Dual reset/hold-to-run buttons allow the operator
to readily reset the bottom feed stop bar.

The EcoIdle engine control system can help aid in
noise reduction, as well as help consumer less fuel
if the feeding process has frequent interruptions.
SMARTFEED. The patented SmartFeed system

CLUTCHLESS PTO. The throttle integrated with
the belt drive engagement process helps ensure
that the PTO can only be engaged while the engine
is at low idle/low rpm. Automatically, the engine
throttles up to full rpm after the belt drive is fully
engaged. This system helps to reduce premature
wear to the belt drive system by preventing high
