) is recalling certain 2008-2019 Peterbilt
330, 335, 337, 340, 348, 365, 367, 384, 386, 387, 388, 389, 567, 579 and 587 vehicles and 2008-2020 Kenworth
T170, T270, T370, T660, T680, T800, T880, and W900 vehicles equipped with NAMUX Software. In the event that the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) loses battery and/or ignition power to the controller, the dash warning light for the ABS may not illuminate to warn the driver of the loss of ABS. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, “Air Brake Systems,” and 136, “Electronic Stability Control System on Heavy Vehicles.”
Remedy
PACCAR
will notify owners, and dealers will update the NAMUX software within the cab control module, free of charge. PACCAR
issued owners an interim notification on June 4, 2020. The recall began May 26, 2020. Owners may contact Kenworth

Truck Company has determined that certain Vehicle Model Year 2007 through 2019 C500, T440/T470, T600, T660, T680, T800, T880, and W900 vehicles manufactured from January 24, 2007 through January 31, 2018 fail to conform to the following standards:
- U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 121 – Air brake systems;
- FMVSS No. 136 – Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles;
- Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) No. 121 – Air brake systems; and
- CMVSS 136 – Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles.
Fleets may have vehicles included in this recall and in Safety Recall 18KWD.

This bulletin will be updated as soon as a repair procedure is completed and made available.
It is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to sell or lease new vehicles covered by this recall until the defect or noncompliance has been corrected.

Truck Company has determined that certain model year 2007 through 2019 C500, T440/T470, T600, T660, T680, T800, T880, and W900 vehicles manufactured during 01/24/2007 through 01/31/2018 fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 121 – Air brake systems and 136 – Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles.
The Tractor ABS lamp may not illuminate when the vehicle experiences a loss of battery and/or ignition power to the ABS controller. Unknowingly operating a vehicle with an inoperative ABS system could lead to an increased risk of a crash or injury.
If you own multiple vehicles, your vehicles could be on either recall number. Your Kenworth
dealer will advise the applicable recall number for each vehicle after the software update becomes available.

The NAMUX software illuminates the Tractor ABS/ESC Lamps when the voltage from the ABS/ESC ECU drops below 25% of the battery input voltage present at the CECU. In the instance where the ABS/ESC ECU loses power (i.e. the fuse blows) the voltage being measured may not drop below the 25% voltage threshold, thus the ABS and/or ESC malfunction lamp will not illuminate. |
| Resolution | Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.
1. Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is on the list. 2. If you are not using Service Management to start repair orders, review DWWC or SIR for “Complete” next to the “20KWB” campaign code prior to performing this repair. 3. Follow the procedures below to update the NAMUX software to the latest available version and verify or set certain software parameters versus Web eCAT.
