Steering Gear Fasteners May Come Loose
If the steering gear mounting fasteners interfere with other steering components, difficulty in steering may occur, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Shyft Group
is recalling certain 2020-2021 RV Chassis K2, K3, K4 vehicles. The steering gear mounting fasteners may come loose, and fall out or interfere with other steering components.
Remedy
Shyft Group
will notify owners, and dealers will remove and replace the steering gear mounting fasteners, free of charge. The recall began February 12, 2021. Owners may contact Shyft Group
customer service at 1-800-582-3454.

This notice applies to the vehicle identification number in the label below.
Dear Valued Customer,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
The Shyft Group
, Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2020 and 2021 model year K2, K3 and K4 model Spartan RV
chassis equipped with Independent Front Suspensions supplied by Reyco
Granning, LLC.
What is the Defect?
The steering gear mounting fasteners may come loose and fall out or interfere with other steering components.
What is the Safety Risk?
If the steering gear mounting fasteners interfere with other steering components, such as a pitman arm, it may cause difficulty in steering or pin the steering wheel to one direction which could increase the risk of a crash.
What is the Warning?
While an increase in steering effort to hold the vehicle straight may be noticed, the steering gear mounting fasteners may loosen without warning.
What is the Remedy?
The steering gear mounting fasteners will be removed and replaced. New fasteners will be installed using loctite and a washer then tightened to specification. This will be done at no charge.
Labor Time:
Replacement of the steering gear mounting fasteners may take up to one (1) hour however, due to some service scheduling times, your service center may need your vehicle for a longer period.
What You Should Do:
Call Spartan RV
Chassis at 1-855-589-9836 to locate a qualified service center near you. Steps will be taken to ensure the work is performed at the nearest service center.
Leased Vehicles:
The lessor must notify the lessee by first class mail within ten (10) days from receipt of their owner notification letter from the manufacturer; both for the initial notification and all subsequent notifications.
Reimbursement:
If you had this repair performed before you received this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. For more information contact Spartan RV

On the attached document, you will find a list of Spartan RV
chassis that have been sold to you. If you agree the identified chassis, contains a safety defect, you are reminded of your responsibility to notify the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in accordance with 49 C.F.R. 573. It is a violation of federal regulation to sell a vehicle subject to a safety recall without the recall first being remedied.
What will Shyft do?
We will contact all owners of these units that are affected by this recall. They will be directed to the appropriate service provider for repair.
The steering gear mounting fasteners will be removed and replaced. New fasteners will be installed using loctite and a washer then tightened to specification. This will be done at no charge.
