Front Disc Brake Caliper May Corrode
If the disc brake’s caliper mechanism corrodes or freezes, it can reduce front braking effectiveness, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Trail King Industries, Inc. (Trail King) is recalling certain 2019-2021 TKHDG, TKAMG, TKAHG, TKHG, TKMG, TKMB, and TKLPSD trailers equipped with disc brakes and a yoke-type suspension. Sealant may be missing on the disc brake chamber extension tube on the front axle, possibly allowing water intrusion which can cause corrosion or freezing of the brake caliper mechanism.
Remedy
Trail King began notifying owners, and dealers will inspect the front axle brake system, and seal the disc brake extension tube on the front axle, as necessary, free of charge. If water has intruded into the caliper mechanism and caused corrosion, the caliper will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began February 17, 2021. Owners may contact Trail King customer service at 1-800-843-3324. Trail King’s number for this recall is TK202101.

Disc Brake Extension Tube sealant inspection.
- Inspect the area where the extension tube seats on the caliper for sealant, if sealant is present as shown in the photo below there is no need to remove the extension tube or do any repair.
- If there is no sealant present in the exterior inspection, the extension tube should be removed and verify the sealant is missing.
- If there is no sealant, inspect the caliper fulcrum area for water intrusion or evidence of water.
- If there is evidence of water intrusion or corrosion contact Trail King Customer service for further repair procedures and caliper replacement.
- If no water intrusion or corrosion is present follow the sealing procedure K0590-12 attached.

Trail King has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in the air disc brakes on front axles of vehicles that utilize yoke type front suspension on certain Trail King trailers.
What Trailers are being recalled?
This recall affects various Trail King trailers with air disc brakes using the disc brake chamber extension tube on the front axle with yoke type suspensions on 2019-2021 model years. Models, TK70HDG, TK70AHG, TK70AMG, TK80AHG, TK90AHG, TK90AMG, TK102HDG, TK102MG, TK110HDG, TK120HDG, TK120LPSD, TKHB2, TKMB3, TK150HDG
What is the Problem?
Trail King has determined that these specific models may be missing sealant on the disc brake chamber extension tube on the front axle only. As a result, water may intrude into the brake caliper causing corrosion and or freezing of the mechanism inside the caliper. If this condition occurs, the braking effectiveness of the front axle may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.
What should you do?
Obtain and confirm your trailer’s serial number from the VIN plate located on your trailer. You are receiving this letter because our records show you are the current owner of this vehicle.
You should inspect the trailer air disc brake system on the front axle only for proper operation. Please contact your nearest Trail King Industries dealer to have your trailer inspected and repaired. You also can contact Trail King Industries directly at 1-800-843-3324 and our Customer Service Department will help you locate a dealer near you. We will send the parts if needed to the dealer to repair your trailer.
What will we do?
Trail King Industries is conducting a safety recall campaign to address this issue. An authorized Trail King Industries Service Center will inspect and reseal the disc brake chamber extension tube on the front axle on your trailer. These repairs should take approximately 3 hours and will be performed at no charge to you.
If this repair has been performed at prior to receipt of this notification, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. For more information, contact Trail King at the phone number noted below.
If you no longer own the vehicle covered by this Safety Recall Notice, please provide the name and contact information for the new owner by contacting Trail King Industries at 1-800-843-3324 and ask for Customer Service or email to [email protected]. This will enable us to advise the new owner of this recall.
Pursuant to Federal Law, any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten (10) days.
