RE: IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE – Seagrave Fire Apparatus, LLC. Dated February 25, 2021,  NHTSA File 21V105

Dear Mr. (Last Name),

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Seagrave Fire Apparatus, LLC (“Seagrave”), has determined that a potential safety defect exists in certain Capitol and Attacker model fire trucks, manufactured by Seagrave between December 1st, 2019 through February 23rd, 2021.

Description of Defect

Seagrave is conducting this recall to address an issue whereby the spin-on power steering filters may become loose or dislodged from the mounting plate, which can cause it to loosen and leak power steering fluid. A power steering fluid leak may result in the loss of power steering assist, increasing the risk of a crash. Seagrave has determined that the root cause of this condition was due to improper torqueing of the filter during installation.  The condition is dependent on the torqueing of the filters on each specific vehicle and may not be present on all suspected vehicles, but the condition has the potential to occur in the entire recall population.  The product functions normally if it is properly torqued to the filter manufacturers specifications.

The Seagrave vehicles listed below are suspect of containing the recalled condition described above.  Please make an appointment at your earliest convenience with your local Seagrave service facility to perform the inspection and perform the needed remedy.  The remedy and support services will be performed at no cost to you.  The required amount of time needed to perform the recall repair is 0.25 hours.
