Spring Brake Chamber Assembled Incorrectly
The pressure plate may tear the diaphragm, causing a loss of air pressure, and increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
TSE Brake (TSE) is recalling certain Omni Tandem Brake Chambers part number 2024TLD2-1946. The spring brake chamber may have been assembled with incorrect springs that were out of specification, which can cause the pressure plate to shift.
Remedy
TSE will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the brake chambers, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 27, 2021. Owners may contact TSE customer service at 1-256-736-6275.

TECHNICAL BULLETIN – TSB #021-001
This technical bulletin describes the proper inspection procedure for TSE OMNI Brake type 24 parking chambers with potential diaphragm longevity issues.
- Make sure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the wheels are chocked to prevent rolling.
- Release the parking brake before inspecting each chamber.
- Remove the dust plug from each chamber to check for centering of the pressure plate.
- If the pressure plate is shifted off center, then there is a potential issue with the chamber that could result in reduced chamber life.
- If the pressure plate is shifted far enough to prevent insertion of the release tool, then the chamber needs to be replaced.
- The picture below on the left shows a well centered pressure plate that will result in optimum light of the parking diaphragm.
- The picture to the below on the right shows a pressure plate that is severely shifted and may result reduced diaphragm life.
TECHNICAL BULLETIN – Tandem Chamber Removal
This technical bulletin describes the proper removal procedure for a tandem chamber that cannot be caged with the release tool
- Make sure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the wheels are chocked to prevent rolling.
- First attempt to manually cage the brake. Even if the caging tool cannot be inserted when the parking brake is released it is usually possible to cage the brake by inserting the caging tool when the parking brake is applied and tightening the nut. Do not apply more than 50ft-lb of torque to the nut.
- If the pressure plate is shifted to the point that a release tool cannot be inserted when the parking brake is applied, then release the parking by applying air to the parking side of the chamber.
- Remove the chamber from the caliper.
- Once the chamber is removed from the caliper the air can be released from the parking side of the chamber.
- The air lines can then be removed from the chamber.
